Kissing Cameras Stats

Man Utd mustered 29 shots to Newcastle’s eight in their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in November.

Wayne Rooney has scored nine goals in 13 Premier League games against Newcastle for Manchester United.

Man Utd have won 13 and lost none of the last 18 matches against Newcastle in the Premier League.

Newcastle have won just two of the last 13 Premier League home games against Man Utd (W2 D3 L8) and in both wins the Red Devils picked up a red card.

Wayne Rooney has scored six goals in his last six appearances against Newcastle on Tyneside.

Man Utd are unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League away games and won the last five in a row.

The Red Devils have kept five clean sheets in a row away from home; they jointly hold the Premier League record with seven set in February 2009. (Chelsea did it in December 2008).

After losing just one of 15 at St James' Park in 2011, Newcastle have lost two of three (one draw) since changing the name to Sports Direct Arena.

It is 16 years since United lost their opening league game of a New Year (1-4 at Spurs in 1996).

Manchester United are the only team to have scored in every Premier League match so far this season.

Wayne Rooney is expected to return after being disciplined by Sir Alex Ferguson last week. It is believed Rooney and midfielder Darron Gibson both missed the New Year's Eve defeat to Blackburn after angering their manager by their performance in training after a Boxing Day night out.

Chris Smalling (tonsillitis) and Rio Ferdinand (back) may return on Tyneside to bolster United's injury-ravaged squad as they look to keep pace with leaders Manchester City.

Sir Alex Ferguson: "We're trying hard to get Rio Ferdinand for (Wednesday) and Ryan Giggs which would make a good difference to us. Anderson should be better, he had 45 minutes on Saturday after four months out. There are no other ones to come back immediately. And Wayne Rooney will be available of course. We had a few training sessions which he missed. You've got to be fit to play in this league, you can't miss training sessions."

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will make a late check on Gabriel Obertan. The former United midfielder has an infected toe, but is expected to make the game.

Pardew otherwise has no fresh injury problems, with Danny Guthrie (groin) and Peter Lovenkrands (calf) close to returns. Steven Taylor (Achilles) and Sylvain Marveaux remain on the long-term casualty list.

Alan Pardew: “For our fans, it is important we put in a proper performance. It is a game under the floodlights and we know our fans will be roaring us on. We feel we have not had any luck against the big teams. We are just a bit frustrated, really. Against Chelsea, we were looking like finding the equaliser at 1-0 down. We could have taken the lead against Manchester City. At Liverpool, we just got that free-kick wrong, which is not something we normally do. So it is a bit frustrating"

Batmanu, you don't seem to understand the difference between mindless WUMing and gloating when your biggest rival loses a game. I don't think any United fan on this board expects Liverpool fans not to give them a bit of stick after a defeat. This is called rivalry. It happens, stop whinging.
