The Paul Gallagher Penalty

You've just condemned him to missing his next!

As long as he keeps it up I won't feel I have to change my user name.

I think he may have missed one but not sure. Need to ask Foxblogger.

He hasn't missed one yet, scoring probably around 7-ish. (?) What I fear is that when he does miss one he'll get barracked for it and everyone will forget his previous success rate - we know that he hasn't been the most popular player of late after all, and his disparagers won't need much prompting to get on his back again.

Personally, I like them. More and more over the last decade or two, we've seen goalkeepers get better at saving penalties, winning battles of wits with attackers. Gallagher's method completely nullifies this. Ok, so it's not out of the keeper's reach but he's left to completely guess and can't psyche him out. Also, Gallagher hits it so hard that the keeper can't adjust. He also knows it's coming at him hard so it tests the keeper's nerve as well. Essentially, it may not be the most accurate method but it puts all the pressure on the keeper.

Without meaning to sound too haughty, it's an interesting take on modern day penalty-taking and it's fascinating to think just how successful it's been so far.

I can't recall him missing one Filbert Nutt - I always feel uneasy with his style but he keeps banging them away.

Plenty of takers miss with a conventional style - So if he misses one soon, big deal, he's scored enough
