Chronic - I would have to disagree that they had a better squad, and don't forget they had to sell one of their key players during MON's tenure. I seem to remember on the old 606 a lot of Spurs vs Villa squad comparison threads with Spurs fans boasting they had the better team. And we did, mostly.

Squid - MON spent a lot of money at Villa true, not always wisely it has to be said, but some decent signings in there. To be fair they were in 16th(?) position when he took over. He felt it necessary to spend, just as Harry did when we were in crisis.

He did have to face Barry leaving, who was a key player for them, and Milner too. If the best players are going to be sold each year it's not really helping the manager much.

What about Asier Del Horno?

MON definitely should be considered. Klinsmann is too risky as he doesn't have enough experience.

Depends on how you measure experience, does it not?

Klinsmann took Germany to the Semi's of the 2006 WC, only losing out to Italy in extra time. He also took Bayern to the Quarter Finals of the CL, has played in the PL & currently managing the USA who are ranked 33 in the World and climbing steadily.

That looks quite good experience compared to many other managers who might be available.
