Show Your Support For Travelling Reds

You might've heard the price United supporters are having to pay for a ticket for Athletic Bilbao away is £77.50, which is scandalous.

Below is a summary of the following article: http://redsaway.com/2012/02/act-now-on-bilbao-ticket-price/

Despite holding talks with UEFA, United and United supporters' groups, Athletic Bilbao have not only refused to cut the ticket price, but have also refused to reveal significant information about what some of their fans are paying.

Redsaway asked UEFA whether Athletic Bilbao were in violation of any rules and the answer was no. A UEFA spokesman replied by stating Article 19 paragraph 3 of the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations, which states:
“Unless the associations or clubs concerned agree otherwise, the price of tickets for supporters of the visiting team must not exceed the price paid for tickets of a comparable category that are sold to supporters of the home team."

Athletic Bilbao supporters who were already members and who became members at the start of the season enjoy a massive discount. Some sources claim they only pay a maximum of 30 euros (£25.34) for match tickets, but Athletic Bilbao have refused to comment on just how much discount their members get. The supporters who aren't club members will be paying the full £77.50, however these people are seen as part time supporters who are paying a premium because they are only going to a big game.

This is totally unfair on those United supporters who are making the journey because of course, they cannot be classed as part time supporters.

Reds are being urged to sign the petition below, calling for Athletic Bilbao to slash the £77.50 ticket price. It may be a waste of time, but there's no harm in putting your name down.

I don't see what Athletic Bilbao are doing here, why charge such a ridiculous price for an away game, for a Europa League game to to fans who are already paying x hundreds to be there in the first place?!

Is this a common price for A. Bilbao for away fans when they are in the Europa League, or is this a one off scenario?

An Athletic Bilbao spokesman confirmed that it was the normal price for every Europa League game, even for group games it seems.

its a disgrace the way United fans who travel to away games have been treated this season with allocations being slashed & prices jacked up.

------
Because doing so would mean ticket prices for home fans raised to the same level.
