Will Scholes go to the Euros?

Despite being 38 I think he's still by far the best English midfielder in the country and any manager would take him. But do you think Scholes would say yes. I get the feeling that Scholes regrets not going to the WC when asked by Capello and will say yes this time.

So the midfield is likely to be

-------------------Parker-------------------
Gerrard-------------------------Scholes

which actually looks pretty strong.

with a foreigner you may not get the same passion, but at the same time you definitely won't get the sentimental bias. Or Even worse, the hero worship McClown had.

For the reasons you stated I don't think Harry is the man for the job, I think my main concern is your final point.

England don't need an English manager, they need a coach that knows what's best for the team and will do it.

Capello may have been a successful coach but that was at club level and also he was best known for making his teams solid, something England had been possibly the best in the world at being for a number of years.

I couldn't see what Capello could bring to the job apart from a winning mentality and the lack of communication probably made that barely possible as well.

Ironically England ended up a defensive mess under Capello, my cousin still thinks he deliberately messed up the team.

It's hard to believe that Capello of all coaches didn't realise Germany's movement would destroy England with the setup and personnel he chose. I don't think Germany even played that well by their standards that day.

and had Lampards perfectly good goal counted, I seriously doubt the result would have been the same

that's knockout football at the end of the day

Passion is overrated. Give me a player that can play football, and a manager who knows what he is doing, over passion everyday of the week.

Plus, how can you even measure passion? People say Scott Parker is passionate for his country because he runs around making tackles and kicking people. You don't see Spanish, German or Italian players doing that, but I bet they're just as passionate about playing for their teams/countries than Parker is.

So do I, it would have been tight even if Germany had won but to be honest Germany were clearly a superior outfit on the day.

Also people in this country seem to think we're passionate about the game than other countries... FALSE!

Due to club division in this country the national team will always find it difficult to gel/play as a team. Used to be a bit like that in Spain but after Euro 2008 it all changed.

South America is a prime example. I went to Argentina and it's football football football. Maradona is like some sort of deity over there.

Scholes should go. His age doesn't really matter because he's adapted his game so well.
I think that England should play only united players just for the kicks :L

I don't think Scholes should be allowed to play for England despite the fact I think he's a fantastic player.

At the end of the day Scholes retired from international duty because he thought a role as a squad player was beneath him.

Maybe he should have been in the first team, but I believe recalling him sends the wrong message. It should be an honour to play for your country regardless of the role.

Furthermore when he turned down Capello when England were desperate, but to now accept a serious tournament as a swan song for his career, would be deeply arrogant.

Scholes is the past and we should be looking towards the future with names such as Cleverly, Milner, Wilshire and Jones. For better or worse x
