Film discussion

Sorry to any junior cycling fans, I just used this board as it's not being used!

Thudd, (and anyone else), let's talk films!

Drive is arguably my favourite film of 2011, I found it near perfect.

Warrior.....I was less convinced by. It was pretty good, and I'm a huge fan of Tom Hardy. But I felt the story was a bit contrived, like they were trying to force the emotional aspect of it. All the acting was great, and as an MMA fan, I thought they did a fairly good job of depecting the action, but it just didn't impress me as much as I expected. It probably wasn't helped by coming out not all that long after 'The Fighter', which is a far superior film to my mind.

HI PHIL THUDDS RECENT FILM HAS REMINDED ME OF THIS! (takes caps lock off).

Some sci-fis that I actually think look quite cool coming up. Plus the new Star Trek, which has a lot to live up to as the last one was perfect. Looking forward to some new movies!

You like the new bourne?

Edin I haven't seen the new Bourne, I'm a big fan of the other movies but am a bit concerned about this one....

Superman looks like it could be good, the trailer looks decent anyway. I think Star Trek also looks good, and yeah the last one was great - and that's coming from someone who doesn't really like Star Trek!

Haven't been to the cinema in a while actually. Think the last trip was Batman (a few times), which I thought was near perfect. The whole trilogy was in fact....

Yeah batman was good. Really like the look of the new Superman the second trailer looks very good.

The problem with the new bourne (kinda a spoiler but not too much of one I guess) is the fact that in the past the bournes have been structured around two basic concepts. Survival then Revenge. This one is all about Survival, thus you have to feel it is a bit irrelevant.

Edin I also heard its a bit weird that he's basically on some weird drug the whole time?

Meh thats not too weird I guess. I do like Jeremy Renner as an actor btw, the script writers havent given him anything to work with.

Also saw the movie sinister, its very scary but lacks substance like all modern day horrors.

I actually liked Total Recall as well, but I hadnt seen the original.

I really like Jeremy Renner, he was incredible in The hurt locker. Which is why I really hope to like the new Bourne, but haven't heard great things.

I also haven't seen total recall. I LOVE the original, it's one of the best cheesy 80s (though technically a 90s movie, but you get what I mean) sci-do actions films ever. A lot of people got very sniffy about the new version, I have no problem with a remake/reboot. I'll just take it as a completely different movie an not compare the two.

Did you see Looper? That was decent without being mind blowing.

Yeah Looper was another good action movie, JGL is a quality actor but I was expecting it to be more deep due to it being compared to the matrix. Like for example JGL always asks for milk in his coffee at the diner, yet Willis asked for his black.

I am still yet to find what significance this actually had to the movie? Signifying he is a changed man maybe?
