Can't fault him on his calls and spotted a lot that has been missed. consistent. Hope others can aim for the same quality.
Only fault would be, from a Welsh perspective, we wanted more rugby and fewer seconds/minutes (total) wasted at stoppages.

Sin binning Halfpenny was a poor call tbh. If he has to go, then so has Bergomasco for his reaction.

Ding, he was very harsh on the breakdown for both sides. Some of the 'from the sides' I would have let slide for both Wales and Italy cos they were touch and go but they were the side in ascendancy. But he was clear to both teams they had a very narrow gate to come through so fair is fair.

That waht im saying mate, But not seeing it your way. He was cow pat for both teams. He killed wales attacking game with his whistle happy BS. And he called a fair few howlers on both sides. Im Irish as you knw, but i aint no relation of clancy. he's rubbish and getting worse im my eyes

Clancy was poor in my view. Once again allowed Wales to be offside in defense after they were held in check for the first time in the tournament last time out. Also let them use blockers to defend the kicking game and restart.

After reading a boatload of articles about the match it appears I am the only one who thought Clancy had a good game.
I can understand people were miffed about the numbers of times he blew for very slight infringements, but he was consistent (a key word in reffing) and then it's up to the players to respond to this and be more accurate in contesting at the breakdown.
I was more frustrated by the Ireland/Scot ref who blew for a lot of forward passes (when I would have let most slide - momentum and all that).

Gecko, on consistency your absolutely correct. He was that, but he was so far on the side of consistently bad that this is one of the few time that we can't even give the ref that as a plus+.
I know this won't go down to well with Wales fans, but if u had had a ref like Alan Roland you would have beat Italy by a cricket score, Despite Wales recent run-ins with him, their style of play is suited to his style. He don't like to blow the whistle, he don't like to be involved. In his words"the less you hear from me, the better i have performed as a ref."
At the breakdown I think Wales missed Warburton and his skill in that area. But perhaps his aggression at the break down might have resulted in more penalties with clancy on the pitch.

I thought Clancy was terrible!! Roland was also appalling all tournament!
