Just before they scored.

Not that Suárez isn't prone to diving nor that he wouldn't have looked to exploit the situation even if he'd been able to stay up, but I don't think this one's really a dive, tbh.

Looks like the forward movement of Suárez's own back foot trips him up, but it's because his heel's just brushed against Rudiger's leg.

Slow motion makes it look like Suárez continues his run before diving, but in those circumstances it's normal to be able to take a couple more steps before fallling.

What I saw:

1. Suarez thinks Rüdi will foul him. Throws left leg back in order to make contact.

2. Rüdi hold himself back, manages to avoid Suarez.

4. Suarez, slightly destabilised, kicks himself.

5. Sees ball running away from him goes down.

6. Complains vociferously to ref for lack of pen. Gets for dissent.

What should have happened:

for simulation and FK for Chelsea.

In the scope of refereeing errors this might be a relatively minor mistake but it's infuriating to see yet another one work out for Barca.

"But the crowd was dead, it was like a morgue at the ground last night and it shouldn’t be that way, it should be rocking when Barcelona come to town because you should be going after them."

Well thats the biggest load of BS i've ever heard. What a moron

When the ref gave a foul on hazard for running past alex vidal didn't even touch him

g7, I agree he seems to seek contact with his his left leg, and I agree he over-dramatises the fall too.

But if you switch your attention to his right leg, it's the brush against Rudiger's that makes it come down behind his own left foot, unintentionally tripping him up.

I agree with Gaz that it's almost impossible to see in real time, but there are even times where the ref's view is better than anything we get to see in spur-of-the-moent replays.

As an aside, Suárez would easily make a top 3 of cheating footballers. Competition for top spot would be tough from the likes of Neymar, Marcelo, Alves, Costa and an up-and-coming Dele Alli, but even then Suárez would probably still shade it.

I'd love to see what Hazard was capable playing inside left in an attack-minded 4-3-3.

Hazard clearly doesn't have the single-minded desire to put up huge numbers a la Messi/Ronaldo.

However if he played for attack minded, possession dominating team I reckon his G+A would significantly increase and he would be considered the best in the prem by a mile.

I actually thought hazard was good lastnight, won several headers and competed, and had the volley(should have scored imo) and that left footed shot from the edge of the box.

Having had another look you might be right about Suarez's right foot. Quality of the clip isn't great and there aren't multiple angles as not much was made of the incident.
Also unsure on what the ref's view was.

As I said earlier I thought it was a relatively minor error by the ref. It's the opposition that make it so sore.

Tired of feeling like Barca get the better of decisions and expecting more of the same in the return leg.

Hazard in a sense is almost like a final third Dembele. Insanely good ball retention skills and ability to transition the ball from a high risk situation to an option who has more space and freedom.

Both would make a world XI in regards to 'unpressable' players.

He also isn't the athletic beast that Ronaldo is, nor does he have Neymar's pace (Hazard relies on acceleration across 5-8 yards), or the creative inspiration of a classic number 10 like Eriksen.

Instead, he is a brilliant team player, a world class dribbler, with potent acceleration, and great technical skill on the ball. Expecting 30 goals from him when he plays for a counter-attacking team is nuts, and not the appropriate way to measure a performance from him.

Salah scored against us at Anfield. Hazard didn;t score. But if anyone came away from that 1-1 game thinking Hazard hadn't bettered both him and Coutinho in that game and shown himself to be a class apart, then they don't understand football.
