If we don't sign Higuain then we won't really have any goal scorers in the team. In which case not sure Golovin is the ideal right sided attacker.

Morata will score more this season. If not we've got bats and giroud

I'd golovin not more of a playmaker / attacking midfielder ?
Not sure where he fits in a 4 3 3

Good player though
Looks.as though we spending the stadium money on players might be a fun summer

Martinez should feck off and mind his own business

His team selection against France was terrible and now he's interfering with club affairs

This Golovin purchase is the exact type of but I hate us making. Not an elite talent, doesn't plug any obvious gaps in the squad and is going to take minutes away from a youth player that he's not much better than.

Hope I'm proven wrong but I really can't see what he provides to the team. If we don't bring in a high scoring RW we'll face the same goalscoring issues we had last season.

Drinkwater was a dreadful signing looking back. He's not even young either

We have RLC and Fabregas who could fill his roles. We make too many of these average squad player buys who don't really elevate us and leave us playing catch up to the best sides.

To put it in perspective, City just spent £60m on Mahrez. He's better than all of our attackers bar Hazard yet he's not even guaranteed to start for them. Look at Liverpool, they bought Shakiri but they already have an elite forward line so a starter wasn't needed.

Now we come to us and Golovin. We already have decent backup in RLC and Cesc but we need an obvious starter. Is Golovin good enough to start? Does he fill a clear gap in our midfield? Are you comfortable with him starting against City, United, Real, Barca?

Forgot Barkley could play that role too.

We're basically spending £35m+ on a position that could be filled by 3 players already on our books. And from what I've seen of Golovin, he's good but not exactly the type of player who would worry any of the top teams. Compare that with Kante and Jorginho, both probably in the top 5 of players who play in similar roles.

Golovin is a good player, certainly better than loftus cheek (who I just don't understand the hype around, may I add).

You know he is 22 right? He isn’t some 28 year old midfielder with no room to improve. I know very little about him, but I have no problem with these types of signings.

Signing an obvious starter would force RLC out the club by the way.

We've seen time and time again that the quality of a signing doesn't really matter when it comes to limiting youth players minutes. The simple fact that they come with a (hefty) fee is usually enough for managers to favour them over academy products.

I agree that he's better than RLC but not by a massive amount and certainly not by an amount that I'd be comfortable with him being a main starter.

Golovin isn’t strictly an attacking mid. Similar to Oscar or Ramires in that he could multiple positions. Only player who should be worried about his arrival is Barkley.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Simply the fact that we spent money on Barkely means that he's more likely to play ahead of RLC. He also has more senior minutes
