Is Paredes really a like for like replacement for Cesc though? I heard that Paredes is quite a combative type CM which by all accounts Cesc never was.

From what I've watched, he plays slightly further up the pitch but has definitely got an eye for a pass and contributes with more goals than Cesc would. Just think we need another midfielder as I'm not overly convinced with Kovacic. I don't rate Barkley and RLC seems to have an ongoing problem. Drinkwater is not in Sarri's plan and Jorginho has been poor of late and needs to sit on the bench for a while.

I know a lot of people here are/were against, but you definitely need a striker and even despite his rotten form of the past few months, it's hard to imagine him not improving on your current options - especially playing under the man with whom he set or equalled the all-time goalscoring record for a Serie A season.

He was always a good league striker for us - it's the knockout games he famously has trouble coping with. Ironically, he's almost the opposite to Morata in that regard.

He has a point to prove now too, so I ought to be raring to go.

Well well well so we might have Higuain available for the Spurs game while they're without Kane or Son

Gazza tbf a lot of people Paredes is very talented and he has been linked with a variety of top clubs in his time. By all accounts a good quality player who has potential too.

I do agree though that Sarri barely rotates as it is, especially for Jorginho’s position - Jorginho is *his* player, will not get dropped/rotated.

On the other hand Sarri in spite of lack of rotation is a bit like Conte in that he needs a second XI even if he has no plans to use them under normal circumstances, which is logical. Even though he barely rotates Jorgi if he does get injured in his mind he probably doesn’t trust any of our options to replace him with Fab gone.

I don’t think Jorginho does, there’s a big likelihood actually whoever comes in next probably can’t find a place for him imo. Very much a player signed for Sarri and his system. This is all based on what I’ve read on Paredes but he is described as having more to his game than Jorginho, ability to shoot from distance, more combative and aggressive in defence and a greater passing range. If we pull it off I think it’s a good signing.
