The transfer market is the sanctuary of a weak coach

This is a direct quote from sarri

He has ampadu more than good enough to provide backup in that role

Paredes at 40m brings nothing too us so u hope sarri can see this otherwise he's a goner and we are back to square one AGAIN

If this is the case then we should hire lamps and Jody next season and get them to work witbt the squad

I'd be sick if we went with another big name coach and it turned out like the others

I honestly don't think that Sarri will kick up a big fuss if we don't get Paredes. For a start he's always said that he's more than happy to have as little input as possible in the transfer market.

Obviously he wanted Higuain and he's getting his man. I'm sure he'll be happy with that. Also Sarri doesn't strike me as the sort of character that Jose and Conte proved to be when they didn't get their way.

Which players could you say Sarri has really improved since arriving at Chelsea?

He's only been here 7 months

I don't notice a drop off in players either so I don't worry about that

I thought we also had an agreement with Paredes and so it would come down to which club met Zenit’s demands

Why is Mount being discussed as potentially the reason we don't sign a backup DLP?

He's actually quite good defensively for a player of his frame and style but his best qualities are higher up.

Does anyone know if we resigned Ake he would count as homegrown? And if Christensen in homegrown or not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ake would qualify domestically, not sure if he would for Europe because the club trained rule in those competitions confuses me more than the Nations League format.

Christensen qualify's as well.

I think some journalists like Matt Law are suggesting that just buying midfielders makes young prospects disillusioned.

Out of interest do you think Loftus Cheek, Mount, Barkley, Kante and Jorginho plus Ampadu is a good enough selection of midfielders for next season?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not for me. I'd like someone more experienced and comfortable on the ball instead of Barkley. If we were serious about playing Mount I'd prefer Kovacic to stay but as a backup to Jorginho and Kante rather than a starting LCM.

Depends on what the expectations are.

If we are aiming solely on top four alongside a respectable CL campaign if we qualify then possibly, but if we want to make waves at home and especially abroad i feel a quality signing is needed, possibly at the expense of Barkley (who has disappointed me greatly since November).

My ideal midfield for next season would be Jorginho, Kante, and a new signing (i like Kova a lot but i think we need a different profile of player in the 3rd spot) with Mount as the first sub (for the front two places), and RLC being the squad player for the two attacking central position's and the wings (still not sold on him as far as regular first choice is concerned).

Then Jorginho's back up is whoever, could be Ampadu but truth be told i see him as a CB.

Definitely agree that Kante has improved under Sarri. He's become a much more complete midfielder. RLC's off the ball work has also gotten better as has his workrate. Pedro I think is just returning to form - the system suits him. Rudiger... Well I feel like he's as solid as he was last year. No real noticeable improvement in my opinion.

I still feel we are easier to get at in the midfield battle with Ruben on.

Bournemouth and Leicester in December we started to lose the control in the middle we had after he came on (or slotted back there in the case of the Bournemouth game).
