SUBS: Fabri, Vietto, Aite, Le Marchand, Seri, Christie, Anguissa
Caballero, Kovacic, Giroud, Luiz, Pedro, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi

Only one defender on the bench seems like quite a risk. Especially as we have no midfielders in the starting lineup who have ever played in defence when needed.

Yup agree that RLC should have been given a start today. I know that Sarri is under pressure to get back to winning ways but as others have just said I don't know what else Loftus-Cheek has to do to get a PL start.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And it's not even like playing RLC presents a serious risk. He's played well in recent matches, clearly adding something to the team. Also Barkley and Kovacic have played a lot of games recently so starting him would be good rotation, keeping them fresh. I can just tell this is what we're always going to get with Sarri if we keep him. Frustrating team selections until he's forced by circumstance to make a change. It's been the story of his entire managerial career.

To be fair RLC has just came back from injury. To me this makes it understandable that he is not starting tbh

Yup exactly how I see it. Loftus-Cheek should be much fresher than Barkley and Kovacic who both feature in just about every game usually.
Unless it's something to do with Ruben's ongoing back problems. But if he's not right then he needs to have an operation now.

I'm fine with having one defender on the bench (as a one-off), it is Fulham who have conceded the most goals in the league.
Shouldn't be needing more than one.

If would be nice to go back to a manager who doesn’t pick underperforming players and plays academy players, like...urm, you know, that guy

Yeah, when Rijkaard was our manager. Great times.

Fair enough. It's just not something you see too often.
The ironic thing is, if we cut squad players to make room for our best youngsters now it will probably work out allright but we won't because we got burnt trying it in 2010 when the youth players were shet

From the comfort of my state room on the cruise ship too..
I'm fine with RLC being eased in. That back injury has been a persistent issue and managing him carefully to ensure it doesn't reoccur is prudent.
Aside from that would've liked to see CHO start and Cab keep his place.

Did we really try it in 2010, I agree McEachran, Van Aanholt, Kakuta and Bruma are not as good as Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ampadu and Loftus Cheek, but remember, as soon as things went south in 2010/11 Ancelotti reverted to using the 14-15 experienced players only. They didnt get much of a look in past October.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that was down to us overestimating the players abilitys, McEachran done well but the other three looked shockingly out of their depth.
