3 at the back the way forward?

When we have our CBs all fit, think the trio of Rudiger, AC & Tomori are a great combination. All 3 comfortable in possession, 2 on the outside have got the recovery pace to play there. It also makes AC look more assured playing in centre knowing he's got 1 either side of him.

Wing backs - this formation gives Alonso a lifeline. He's pretty effective as a wingback too, his best form for us was in this system. Emerson also capable of playing there too, healthy competition between the two. With regards to Azpi, I rather see him at RWB than RB as he'll get less exposed and has Rudiger to cover for him. He can also comfortably fit in at RCB if we're short in the CB area or when RJ takes over.

The midfield duo remains the same but with Kante coming in for one of Kova or Jorg.

The two behind the striker were able to play as inside forwards so were difficult to pick up for the opposition. Mount and Willian were very good yesterday. In other games Mount has sort of gone quiet in the 2nd half but yesterday he was always available. No reason why our other wide players cannot thrive in them roles (Pedro, CHO and Pulisic).

I also feel we'll see less of Barkley playing this way, he came on yesterday for Kovacic and we lost that control in the middle of the park.

The front man - his role is pretty much the same as we're still playing with the 1 up top. He'll just have the 2 inside forwards closer to him so he can link up play.

I don't think Lampard believes in one particular way forward

I've been aying about going back to playing 3 at the back for ages....

Whether that includes Azpi 8s questionable - he'd be far better in a 3 - but is he the best option

Azpi and Alonso wingbacks isn’t really viable for me over a season, maybe with Emerson and James..I think it’s good to have that option but too early to say it’s no.1 formation. At Derby he switched between 3 at the back and 4 at the back formations over the season

I think whilst we have these defensive issues, 3 at the back could be a good solution. 1st half we looked generally quite solid.

But yes with Frank I guess he'll adjust the team according to the opposition etc

Bournemouth: Ramsdale, Stacey, S. Cook, Ake, Rico, Billing, L. Cook, H. Wilson, Solanke, C. Wilson, King

One win in seven games for Derby. Struggling without Lampard and the loan army they had.

Always gunna be tough for them, Lampard really had a great opportunity to get out as they had it tough whether they stayed in Championship or got promoted

Really enjoyed yesterday - my only real issue and it pains me to say it is Dave. Looked like a passenger yesterday. Same as with Ivan. You know you should take him out the back and tell the kids he is playing football in the US, but hopefully with James Dave can get a break.

Meant to ask...why did Pulisic not feature yesterday - is he injured

posted on 15/9/19

Frank probably had home match against Valencia in mind to start Pulisic with Pedro.

Beefy was the best...and loved him at Somerset then with Big Bird and Viv Richards.

Played cricket for fun here and only got the odd competition knock and bowl, but summer was Wimbledon, World cup and cricket in greater Belfast for me.

Spent all day watching cricket on tv which I could not imagine now.

Maybe the changes didn't help and it was just regular 1st half Chelsea
