it's nothing to be ashamed of. Apparently amazing actors such as Megan Fox and Mark Wahlberg have it.

NHS hospital in Somerset seaside town of Weston-super-Mare shuts A&E and stops taking new patients because of surge in Covid-19 cases

This is worrying, 2 weeks after VE day as well

That's our hospital...

Mind you...the A&E has been shut at night for the last two years...it's a tuppenny hapenny outfit at the best of times

He’s misjudged a lot of things in this, and comes from a massive area of privilege (this Durham estate with a separate cottage to stay in) which doesn’t help public perception when most others could never visit their family like that.

My conclusion is that rather than Cummings did anything wrong it is more a case of the Govt messaging on stay at home being to strong and not clear enough on circumstantial detail.

Or I am just a naive gullible mug

..I don’t think the misjudgements he’s made should lead to his resignation though at all. None of the actions he’s done have a realistic risk of spreading the virus and I think this is way I see the ‘reasonable’ argument he keeps making.

He has flaunted government rules for the drive to the castle and sitting outside for 15 min (that was definitely for leisure obvs I don’t buy this eyesight/safe to drive guff) but for me personally I don’t even care about microanalysing stuff like that. The general public and a lot of people I know have also subtlety gone against government rules doing actions that just have logical negligible risk of spreading the virus; sitting in a park, string on a bench outside, going on a socially distant cycle, going on a drive to a park for a run, doing some weird socially distant exercises in the street, jogging past a stranger not within 2 metres. To me (i know other public opinion disagree) they’re all reasonable things to do just practically have no risk of spreading the virus.

He’s really misjudged public opinion on the matter though. I guess he’s really wishing now he did follow the letter to the law.

I don't buy the testing my eye site trip to Barnard Castle. Odds on that is an utter lie, but I find the rest a credible exanation.

Cummings said on 11 April "some people saw us from a distance", but the couple had not left the land of the property.

By that date, he said he was hoping to return to work the following week, and sought medical advice.

He says he was told it was safe to do so.

He and his wife then spoke and "agreed we should go for a short drive" to see if he could manage it.

Cummings says the pair "ended up on the outskirts of Barnard Castle" but denies they "walked around the town".

However, when he "felt a bit sick", they walked "10 or 15 minutes" from the car and sat down.

His wife said "happy Easter" to someone, but there were no other interactions

Honestly on some sorta level for me it seems so odd to have such a serious and scalding press conference and a large part of the story is whether he drove to a sightseeing spot and sat outside for 15 minutes with his family in the countryside

He came out with some odd things though.

With the trip to the castle I can’t tell whether it would be potentially even worse for him/his image to tell the truth and admit it was for leisure and not a ‘test drive’ for his eyesight.

He should have said he regretted it more and apologised, at very least regretting not just planning to find childcare in London.

I do see what you mean about interpretation though i've been going to m&s 7 days a week, i guess i justify it because i only go aldi and do a full shop once a week but even back when it was "essential shopping only" i was still going to M&S everyday to get a baguette or some fresh fruit or jacket potato's.

Plus once every 2 weeks i was taking a 25 min drive to go get chicken and chips

But I think it is down to having so many enemies in both sides of the house. Clearly people with agendas leaked this and its a shot across his bows that there are people out there who can damage him.
