John Stones' collapse in form at City this season has been pretty remarkable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why just this season...?
I wasn't aware he'd ever actually been 'in form' - although I may have been on holiday that week
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was a very important part of their back to back title winning teams. I'd classify that as being in form.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Had Kompany and quality full backs covering him...too error prone mostly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He played more than Kompany and he plays with the same full backs now bar Delph.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
only down to injuries...also must've had Fernandinho next to or just ahead of him a fair bit as well...he's still always been flakey even when selected, - a bit like what we have now
On this day today: Footballer Paul Gascoigne has arrived at scene saying he is a friend of Raoul Moat.

Fernandinho never played CB for City until this season as far as I know.
I also wasn't saying he's not without flaws. But you think he's been bad for his entire time at City?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did say in front of him...
I think he got over hyped & then sold for a huge fee, and never lived up to it...bad is harsh
He probably should've been the next JT/Ferdinand

Never said he would improve us. Though that is in large part because his form has fallen off a cliff this season and he's been mostly bad.
Also the way the transfer market has been £47m is arguably not far off the going rate for a player who can be an important part of 2 title winning teams. If we signed Rice for £60m this summer and he was an important part of us winning back to back titles in 2021/22 and 2022/2023, don't think many of us would be complaining.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never said you did...was just making he point
Re Rice & us winning back to backs - That is a monumentally huge if....& City had money to burn anyway on such players
So that shot off the post was a save by Kepa?
You ask anyone who the top 15 most influential players have been at City during their success, I doubt Stones's name would not even surface...to my mind he's been damned lucky to play in such a successful side, albeit one that still awaits a first CL

Stones has been a disappointment in all honesty. He was supposed to partner Laporte or step up once Kompany went.
Him and Otamendi have been pretty awful.
For Pep to stick Fernandinho at CB ahead of them two tells you a lot.

In their recent success? Ederson, Laporte, Walker, Kompany, Fernandinho, KDB, Silva, B. Silva, Sterling Aguero and Sane would all undoubtedly be ahead of Stones in importance.
Then who are you naming ahead of Stones? Gundogan, Jesus, Mahrez (even though he was only there 1 of the seasons) and Otamendi? Or Delph/Zinchenko?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If it was a question on Pointless on tv...he'd be in single figure answers
I'm done now...got bowls match...ask around, see what the consensus is
