Still feel there should be some consistency in the team as you hardly ever see Liverpool change their back 4
The chopping and changing in other areas is understandable but at the back there should be a more consistent/regular back 4.
An old Roman move Thiago Silva
Going for an old fifa favourite as opposed to say a Lewis Dunk
Sort of fits the Eto'o & Deco (and erm Quaresma & Pato) mold
If Silva is here for a year, he's no good sat on the bench. He should be starting most games as he's a natural leader and will be the most experienced CB.
I wasn't suggesting he'd leap to the other extreme but slowly but surely a recognized first XI & formation would evolve over the course of next season.
Havertz could be a good gauge of that were it to happen, I'd expect him to make at least one appearance in all of his positions, but by the end of the season there's enough clarity for us to say Lampard sees him as (A) & sometimes (B) in specific game situations.

I agree. But I doubt Thiago Silva can start 40 games a season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's managed 35+ every season.
I wouldn't play him in the domestic cups but he's got to start most PL games and CL games. I'd say around 30 in the PL and the CL games if he can stay fit..

I think I’ve grown to the Silva signing
Yeah fair point with the Ligue 1 as it's usually a stroll for PSG so he's had time to rest for games.
Just feel our defenders, especially our CBs can do with being partnered by someone telling them what to do etc.

I'm sure Lampard has an idea of the formation/first 11 that he wants to play. No idea if he will persevere with it through difficult patches though.
I suspect Havertz will spend a lot of time alternating between playing in midfield and as part of the front 3 (like Mount has done this season) just because I'm not sure him playing at CM will work against the better teams.
--------------------------------------------------------
I don't see Havertz playing RW too much, for smashing our transfer record Lampard will want him through the center of the pitch. F9 looks his best fit in a 433 considering we have Mount as a no.8 & Werner to cut in from the left (Auba style), and CAM for 4231 allowing total fluidity of positions between him, Ziyech & Pulisic/CHO.
We'll see. Lampard has tons of options here. Good problems as the saying goes
Kante Kova
Ziyech Havertz Pulisic
Werner
Looks strong but in reality Kante and Kova hasn’t worked as a midfield two
Havertz is a nice option as could also provide the ‘foil’ to Werner, again coming from the fact Werner has always had a ‘target man’/link up strike partner with him his whole career

Hopefully you're right. But I suspect there will be more league games where he can rest while playing at PSG (i.e. where has little to do is and/or where he isn't being constantly targeted physically) than there will be in the PL for us.

I except to see a two up front system played with at least once next season (likely 352) while Lampard works out if Werner's up to playing as a lone striker in the PL. He'll work with Giroud no probs.

When we signed Hazard I was over the moon because everyone knew he was a star.
I don’t get the same vibe with Havertz, who seems to be more about potential.

Tammy Abraham welcome to Tottenham January 2021
I don't think we're getting rid of Kepa this window sorry to say. We're going to buy someone like Ben Foster or Sergio Romero as cheap and cheerful options to compete with Kepa.
In a nutshell we're still going to be weaker than most other top teams in goal. Maybe in CB department as well if Thiago Silva doesn't adapt to the PL at the age of 36.
Let's just hope that we're excellent in attack next season so that we can cover up our defensive deficiencies.
