Kante isn’t comfortable on the ball in the positions he ends up playing in.

That's a sweeping statement, you will need verified stats to show to Sheriff.

I thought James grew up a bit yesterday tbh

Taking loads of defensive responsibility, not being as cavalier going forward but still able to provide a cross in
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought he was our best player actually....oops opinion alert
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's fine. I said he was very good off the ball but his passing was poor. What is so troubling in that?

I would actually slightly argue mind you..that interceptions would mean he's arguably on the ball... But I will admit to being slightly pedantic here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can think of harsher words to say than pedantic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was wondering how long it would take before this kind of comment would appear

James needs to play like that more on the right as it looks like we are going to favour the left side more for the overload

If he can't anchor that side effectively and consistently then Azpi will play more often than him

I didn't realise people posted their opinions on here to teach, I thought it was just to provoke discussion and debate and also a platform to vent.

I am not interested in teaching people on here, so you are wise not to consider me viable in this regard.

Jorginho is annoying

Great qualities, but he' so specific that when he isn't suited to a game or a tactic he is borderline harmful to have on the pitch

At one point, Lampard had:

Kante, Kovacic, Havertz, Mount, Jorginho, Gilmour, Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Ampadu, Gallagher, van Ginkel, Bakayoko, Drinkwater.

That's more than enough players to construct a reliable midfield.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not about quantity though is it? So many names on there do not apply for obvious reasons. But getting rid of Barkley has hamstrung him for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would contend there is a lot of quality in those options.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite a lot of crap as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would argue Kante, Kovacic, and Jorginho are Champions League quality players, Havertz is a player of immense potential, while Mount and Barkley are good enough for a top four squad as well. Gilmour and Ampadu are/were among the most promising talents in their age group in our academy and also in the country.

Their should be enough for us to have balance and control in midfield, where we are neither constantly open or having to stick 10 men behind the ball.

That's on Lampard, and I am tired of people's general evasiveness on this issue, to the point they blame players who have achieved considerable things for Chelsea.

And before the predictable retort of 'Well, look at what Lampard has achieved for us' I would say that legendary players are not usually legendary managers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It really is on you if you are tired of people not seeing it the way that you do. I am not sure how useful it is to you to be that emotionally invested in others agreeing with you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not emotionally invested. Fatigue comes from boredom. Boredom from people shifting goalposts and now pretending our players are not good enough when only two months ago most of us considered us to have one of the best squads in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I am famed for having a bad memory in my household, but I thought the general consensus on here was that it would take two windows to become serious title contenders.

There is also already evidence supporting a view that some of our players are not good enough. Although just a couple of games, it seems noticeable that Silva Me dy and Chilwell improve us defensively.

We have good players in midfield, but my Co cern is we don't have the right type of midfield players to make 4 2 3 1 work. Now that is of course up to Lampard to prove me wrong as he chose this current squad.

You may be tired of my comments, which is fair enough, there is a filter button you can use - I won't take it personally, but I have as much right to criticise the management of this team as anyone else does to either defend the manager or make what I judge to be ludicrous claims about the players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do t think my post infers that you do t ha e a right. I was pointing out that I dont think becoming tired or frustrated of those that don't agree with you is particularly healthy. As you said, you have the same rights as them and vice versa.

Blarms as I've said on here before in any other window he'd have been moved on. He's a Serie A player and he'll do well going back there. I think Billy will fairly quickly take his place once he's had one or two good appearances after his return.

But just because you may utterly refute the claims of others on here, does that mean that they should accept your view that their claims as ludricous (as you put it)?

That chance he gave away against Utd was criminal tbh

Silva had to step out and we were undone but for Mendy
