FINALLY A UNITED FAN ADMITS IT.

Makes me laugh how many of our fans are surprised with this result when the signs were there last season, and we did nothing this window to address the problems we had last year.

Our central midfield was totally non-existent, completely out run and out powered as predicted. Scholes is an old man, and Cleverley was barely mentioned.

Everton wanted it much more and you dont say that often about teams against United sides under SAF, but this game showed, as did many last season, exactly why we needed an authoritative player in CM to take the game by the scruff on neck and change the momentum.

Cleverly not the worst tonight but he has been overrated and is a victim of the expectancy of a young ENglish player, whilst we are being harsh I will say I just don't see it with Welbeck either, however hope both turn out to be great for us.

I accept what you said. But please answer this

What does Cleverley do that Kevin Nolan couldn't do in our midfield?

Meh in fact I am a bit peeved. Rooney was shambolic, nani was hilarious, welbeck looked rusty and the big name signing rvp? Inconspicous. We had no structure. In fact the midfield was the best thing today!!! And this fool critisizes them? Stupid.

Kevin Nolan is ponderous on the ball, doesn't have the dynamism of Young Tom and is not as disciplined in his role.

The central midfield are not feeding the strikers and wingers quickly enough. They are tippy tapping all the way around the pitch.

Is Cleverley better than Gibson?

Cleverly was good tonight.

agreed
the problem was as a combination cleverly and scholes offer no protection what so ever to the back 4. they can't tackle nor intercept like carrick. We need a physical presence in midfield,

How many great chances did we create today? One and that was as a result of some pinballing in the box before Cleverley's tame prod at goal

That is down to our midfield. We already know our wingers had shocking games (Nani, Welbs and even Young) but Cleverley and Scholes have to do more than jsut pass it sideways to each other.

Only Kagawa showed any urgency and desire to split the defence with his pasing. Cleverley looked more than happy boosting his pass completion rate

Any half decent PL striker is going to score against Carrick eventually as a CB. Especially in the air.

United missed a player like Carrick tonight in DMF patrolling between the lines in front of the CBs ...where Fellaini opeartes.

A stat from Twitter*

Cleverley made 15 successful passes to midfield partner Scholes tonight.... all of them were either sideways or backwards”

This is ridiculous. His job is to keep things moving and give the ball up to the creators of our team. Wingers and today, kagawa. Why can't people get that this is what fergie wants with our midfield, and it works. In addition he made runs into the box which led to our best chance.

Cleverley had our best chance. Played well.
