Red Bull motorsport boss Helmut Marko said he advised his drivers to become infected with coronavirus while the season is in hiatus.

The 76-year-old said he had the idea to bring his Formula 1 drivers and juniors together in a camp, which "would be the ideal time for the infection to come".

"They are all strong young men in good health. That way they would be prepared whenever the action starts," he said.

The rest of Red Bull management were against the idea, which was abandoned.

There is a growing understanding among Scottish football clubs that finishing the season is becoming increasingly unlikely due to the spread of Covid-19.

Each SPFL side has at least eight games outstanding and the governing bodies are taking legal advice about the best way to conclude the current campaign.

The English Premier League are reportedly exploring a televised, behind-closed-doors event this summer.

However, that is considered fanciful by senior figures in Scotland.

BrightHouse - the biggest rent-to-own operator in the UK - has collapsed, with administrators now attempting to salvage parts of the business.

Customers should continue to make the monthly payments required to keep their household goods, with administrators now acting as the collecting agent.

The company had been struggling after an influx of compensation claims for selling to people who could not repay.

Its shops were then shut owing to coronavirus restrictions on retailers.

Julie Palmer, from corporate recovery business Begbies Traynor, said: "Coronavirus was the final nail in the coffin for BrightHouse."

Barrow could be voted back into the English Football League if the season is not finished, 48 years after they were removed, says director Levi Gill.

Barrow are four points clear at the top of the National League and pursuing a return to the EFL, having failed to win re-election to Division Four in 1972.

But the National League has asked the Football Association to close the rest of the campaign because of coronavirus.

"We would first need to be recognised as champions," Gill told BBC Sport.

He says that decision will fall to the National League and could be decided either by taking the current standings or deciding them on a points-per-game basis, if their remaining nine fixtures cannot be completed.

Sixty-six non-league clubs have sent an open letter to the Football Association, calling for it to "urgently" reconsider the decision to expunge their seasons.

Some MPs have also told clubs they will write to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport asking for intervention in what one described as a "disappointing" decision.

It was announced last week that football in England below the National League's three divisions would end immediately with results expunged.
