Donald Fisher is a fictional character in the Australian television soap opera Home and Away played by actor Norman Coburn as a regular character, from the soap's inception in 1988 to 2003. He acts as the main antagonist in the show's pilot episode, willing to go to any lengths to ensure local teen Bobby Simpson is locked up, however his character soon softens. He spends almost his entire tenure on the show as the Principal of Summer Bay ( at which he is given his iconic nickname "Flathead" ), where he is stern but fair to all the students. Although departing as a main character in 2003, Coburn has since returned for brief appearances in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Coburn's long-running portrayal of Fisher earned him a place in the 2002 Guinness World Records alongside castmates Ray Meagher and Kate Ritchie as the longest serving cast member of an Australian soap opera.

Netflix has cancelled a Turkish drama on the eve of filming, with its writer saying the government blocked it because it included a gay character.

Screenwriter Ece Yorenc said Netflix scrapped If Only after the government refused to grant it a licence.

"Due to a gay character, permission to film the series was not granted and this is very frightening for the future," she told Turkish film website Altyazi Fasikul, according to the FT.

Netflix confirmed the story's details.

Roald Jensen (11 January 1943 – 6 October 1987), nicknamed "Kniksen", of Bergen, Norway was one of that country's most celebrated association football players. He played for SK Brann and Heart of Midlothian F.C. ( "Hearts" ). Knicksen is a local Bergen word meaning "juggler".

Jensen was born in Bergen. From an early age, he was interested in football. He made his Brann senior-team debut in 1960, while still only 17. He made his debut on the national team the same year. Brann, with Jensen, won the league in 1961-62 and in 1963. After Brann's relegation in 1964, Jensen transferred to professional football in Scotland as Heart of Midlothian's first non-British player. While he was in Scotland, Jensen was unable to play for Norway, as the national team did not allow professional players at that time.

In 1971 Jensen returned to Brann and won the Norwegian championship (cup) with the club in 1972. Jensen retired from football after the 1973 season, when he was 30 years old. Jensen died in 1987 while playing football for Brann's old-boys' team. The Kniksen award, a prize that acclaims the best players in Norwegian football, is named after Jensen. In 1995 a statue of Jensen was erected outside Brann Stadion in Bergen.

Thousands of people lined the streets of football great Jack Charlton's hometown to pay their respects ahead of his funeral.

Former Republic of Ireland boss Charlton, who won the World Cup playing for England, died on 10 July aged 85.

He was born in Ashington, Northumberland, and often returned to the former mining town.

Well-wishers applauded and cheered as the cortege passed through the streets, with many waving flags and banners.

His family said they had been "overwhelmed" by the support shown and added "he would have been thrilled by the outpouring of kindness".

People threw flowers on the hearse as it passed slowly through the town where he and his younger brother Sir Bobby honed their football skills.

The procession slowed as it passed close to the terraced house on Beatrice Street where the Charltons once lived and played in the back lane.

Nigel Pearson could have been a contender for Premier League manager of the year rather than being sacked by Watford, says West Ham's David Moyes.

Pearson, 56, was sacked with fourth-bottom Watford three points clear of safety and two games left to play.

He won seven Premier League matches since taking over in December, but the Hornets made the decision after Friday's loss at West Ham.

"I was amazed that Watford have done what they've done," Moyes said.

"If Watford had stayed up - and I think they've still got a great chance of staying up - he could easily have been recommended for manager of the year, with the position they were in when he took over."

It is second-placed City's fourth successive league win.

Having won back-to-back games against Norwich and Newcastle, Watford have now lost two in a row and remain just a place and three points above the relegation zone.

A Villa victory over Arsenal later on Tuesday will mean the Hornets drop into the bottom three going into the season's final day on Sunday, with their fate no longer in their own hands.
