Spurs took a convincing 3–0 lead into the half-time interval after goals from Ledley King, Robbie Keane and a Christian Ziege free kick. Having already seen their star striker, Nicolas Anelka, limp off with an injury in the 27th minute of the game, the situation was made even worse for City just before the half-time interval when key central midfielder Joey Barton was dismissed by the referee for dissent as both teams and the match officials were leaving the pitch at the end of the first half. However, after the break, goals from Sylvain Distin, Paul Bosvelt, Shaun Wright-Phillips plus an injury-time strike from Jon Macken sealed a victory described by one journalistic source as "as great a comeback as English football has ever known".

Raúl Castro has stepped down as first secretary of Cuba's Communist Party.

The move means that for the first time in six decades, the party - which has ruled the island since formation in 1965 - is not led by either Raúl Castro or his late brother, Fidel.

Fidel Castro led the communist revolution that toppled the Cuban government in 1959 and his younger brother Raúl was one of the commanders.

Legendary former Wales and British and Irish Lions captain and coach John Dawes has died at the age of 80.

Dawes won the first of his 22 Wales caps in 1964 and was captain six times, leading them to the Grand Slam in 1971.

He also captained the Lions on the 1971 tour of New Zealand, still the Lions' only series win over the All Blacks.

As coach of Wales, Dawes won four Five Nations titles including two Grand Slams and four triple crowns and was coach of the 1977 Lions in New Zealand.

Ben Crooks scored the fastest try in Super League history as Hull KR edged out a thriller against Huddersfield to gain their first win of the season.

Rovers' Crooks crossed after seven seconds and then worked a second prior to Mikey Lewis's score.

Jermaine McGillvary, Darnell McIntosh, Jake Wardle and Chris McQueen's tries gave Huddersfield a narrow lead.

Kane Linnett put Hull KR ahead before McIntosh levelled, but Jordan Abdull's drop-goal sealed it for Rovers.

Crooks' record-breaking try, which came after Sam Wood missed the ball from Abdull's kick-off, beat the previous fastest score of 14 seconds, set by St Helens' Tim Jonkers against Wakefield in 2002.

Pupils at the Duke of Edinburgh's former school have paid tribute to him by laying a wreath at sea in his memory.

Gordonstoun school remembered Prince Philip during an event at Hopeman Harbour in Moray.

Pupils gathered on the school's yacht, Ocean Spirit, which was anchored off the Moray harbour.

A lone piper played Flowers of the Forest on the harbour wall as a wreath was laid in the water.

As a pupil at the exclusive boarding school in the 1930s, Prince Philip learned to sail in the sea in the Moray Firth.

Gordonstoun's principal Lisa Kerr said the school had spent the last week reflecting on "how proud we are in shaping what was important to the duke".

She added: "We can't have large-scale gatherings at the moment, but to be able to have a smaller tribute to him which is still an appropriate scale is great.

"For us to put together this tribute felt like the right thing to do in these circumstances - it represents his love of the Moray Firth, Hopeman Harbour and Gordonstoun."
