Yes, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't sell him come the summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The problem is they are on too much money for their age to find another club. So I expect Kos to stay. He is still useful anyway and hasn't fallen of the edge like Cech.

Who are the players we definitely think will be gone in the summer either through player sales, Expiration of contact or retirement?

Cech - Retired
Lichtsteiner - Expired period
Welbeck - Contract Expiration
Ramsey - Juventus
Jenkinson - ?
Monreal - ?
Mustafi - sold
Elneny - sold
Ospina - sold

Reports circulated a few weeks back that the club triggered a one-year extension to Monreal’s current deal meaning it expires in 2020.

The club didn’t say anything about it but I don’t think they always do when it comes to activating contractual clauses.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not sure the club would have done that. They have been making a song and dance of reducing the wage bill and I don't see why they would want to pay starter's wages to a player who really isn't good enough to start.

He’s too young as well. We need to be targeting more players in the age range of 24-27.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt we will be buying teenagers to replace any of our first team members, especially if we can't make the CL slot. Emery will then have just one year left in his contract and I doubt he will take risks.
In fact, if we don't make it, I even fear for our youngsters. They might not get much playing time.

Add Ozil to the list, and I think that's probably quite realistic.

Ernesto Valverde has signed a new contract at Barcelona to stay on as manager and Barca fans are going into hysteria about it.

I’ve not watched a lot of them this season but I don’t really get the #ValverdeOut hashtag?

He won them a domestic double in his first year at the club, and even this year they’re top of La Liga, in the semi-finals of Copa del Rey and are probably one of the favourites for the Champions League.

Unless the football is absolutely turgid, methinks some of them are being a bit spoiled....

Barca fans are grade A s though.

Only fans worse than them are Real.

It is turgid. He has made some very odd decisions, team selections and subs as well. As you said, they are still delivering but that is mainly due to the fact that they have the best player on the planete.

Coutinho and Suarez have been far below bar as well which hasn't helped.
Dembele, after a trouble start for disciplinary reasons has now started to show why they spent so much on him.

Guys can we agree on one thing?

Arsenal won't make top 4 this season. Not in the PL neither winning the EL.

I wish we were in a position where we could win titles and cups, whilst playing boring football, and still want the manager out because our expectations are that high.

I guess it’s all relative though.

Keep the faith GT. Maybe yesterday was the wake up call the team and manager needed.
Things have to change from now on so hopelly they will act

To be honest, I don’t think we’re good enough to win the EL nor do I think we’re good enough to make top 4.

But I never expected that at the beginning of the season, so meh.

Next season, if he is backed properly, Emery has to get it right though. He knows it too.

I really lost any faith.....Performances getting worse and worse.

I can't see any change as long as the Yankee is our owner and not investing.

We are one point behind Man Utd and equal with Chelsea who were just thumped 6-0 by Man City. But somehow we aren't good enough to be in the top 4?

I don’t believe our squad is better than any of the other top 6 sides. When crunch time comes, I believe we will come unstuck.

Also, I’ve just seen that assuming we get through to the last 16, the 1st leg will be played in between Spurs away and Man United at home. So the timing is really not ideal.

There will come a point where Emery has to choose which competition to prioritise. This squad isn’t good enough to handle both competitions.

Not that I am impressed with These Teams either but United will grind out results especially away from home.

I really cant see us beat Leicester, Everton, Spurs, Wolverhampton, Watford away from home to name a few. Neither will we beat United at home.

posted on 15/2/19

The crunch has been on since day one. We are still in the mix for the top 4 and the Europa Cup. So I don't see what other pressure they are suddenly going to face. We haven't played well the whole season which was expected but we are getting results. Of course there is going to be the odd hiccup along the way. Our schedule however is easier than Chelsea and Man Utd so we have a great chance of making top 4 and I still expect us to go through against Bate.

The problem is J99, and we've had this discussion before, but I simply don't trust us to perform away from home. Even less so after yesterday's debacle.

So although on paper, we may have the easier fixture list, I still expect us to come unstuck in a few of the away games. And we're at a stage where we can't afford to be dropping points.

As I said, I hope yesterday will be a wake-up call and things will start to change now. We have the weekend off and enough time to get fully ready for the Southampton game.
Players and manager need to start singing from the same note.
