I suppose you have to be thankful for small mercies. It is a relatively easy draw.

Was expecting the extended ban. Violent conduct always gets 2 or 3 more games.

Didn't even break his nose.

Yeah, needs lessons from Paul Davis in making it worthwhile.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think it should be based on amount of blood.
Can we appeal that Laca ban?
Fashanu on Mabutt. Now thats what I call an elbow.

Wenger and Emery have both had a go at Ozil. I hope he is very very angry and wants to prove everyone wrong.
Don't think he gives a fack tbh

Lacazette is a total idiot for what he did and I’m still annoyed at how stupid he was, but we shouldn’t need to rely on him alone to get past Rennes. We should be beating them regardless.

It's tragic people still think he will change
A very good performance especially in the first half from the Gunners. Leno kept us in the game with his saves in the first half. Our goals came to the right time. In the end we are very wasteful.
We had good individual performances in a good team performance against a difficult opponent.
Leno, Xhaka, Mustafi, Lacacette and Iwobi stand out for me.
Looking forward to seeing Nelson and ESR go head to head tonight, as both watch the Hoffenheim - Leipzig game from the sidelines.

Has ESR recovered from his injury? That was a strange loan, almost as comical as kallstrom.
Nelson hasn't been playing much neither lately. Such a shame after a good start.
I hope Emery plays Mustafi at right back because his defending for the first chance of the game, Southampton's one-on-one, was criminal defending.
If we go back to a back 4, then Mustafi would likely to be benched as I see Sokratis and Kos as starter from now on.
Unless, as you said he gets play as RB. I'd rather though play AMN there. We need to give our youngster more opportunity, otherwise they might end up all leaving. I'd be surprised if Eddie don't ask to go on loan next season.

Nelsons game time has been pretty consistent over the season, tbf. He got a small run of starts when they were juggling league and CL, but apart from that he has been a late sub.
Not too dissimilar to Sanchos first season at Dortmund.
I think Mustafi at right back could be a genius move. Not only does he add height at right back to defend crosses in the air but imagine him heading Kols crosses on the far stick attacking the goal! He could be a genuine threat.
We have more points at this stage of the season, than we did in any of our last five.
"53 points after 27 games is Arsenal’s highest points total since 2013/14 (59 points) and second highest in 8 seasons".
@KeenosAFC
Good stat. However, it is probably one of those that if we lose Wednesday it becomes our 6th or 7th highest points total after 28 games since 13/14
After 28 games:
17/18 - 45 points
16/17 - 50 points
15/16 - 51 points
14/15 - 54 points
13/14 - 59 points
12/13 - 47 points
11/12 - 52 points
It's our second highest points tally in the last 8 seasons, apparently.
Given the struggles we've faced this season, that's not bad at all.
Just a shame that the other top 6 sides have been just as consistent or more consistent than us, too.
Someone's performances that have gone a little under the radar the last couple of games was Lichtsteiner.
Okay fair enough the BATE game was against low-quality opposition, but I shuddered at the prospect of him vs Southampton. To his credit, he actually put in a good shift.
I hope he performs like that regularly from now until the end of the season. Likewise with Kolasinac, who was brilliant yesterday. We need everyone to step up now.
Really hope we can get top 4/win the EL.
The point tally is a good stats. However, it can't taken in isolation. Need to see how the other around us are doing (how many was 2nd, 3rd, etc... had last season).
If we are the only one to have made progress, then that it fantastic. However, if we are not, it could be just a mini wave which dragged everyone along.
Didn't he go off injured yesterday
