Kroenke is a businessman. He will know that for a decent return in his investment he needs to compete with 5, perhaps now 7 other clubs.

The self sustaining model is a deadend. Either he invests cash in the club or watch it fade away into mid table mediocrity.

Kroenke won't put a penny in. We all know this.

Did you see the interview from Venktasharam (sp?) and Sanllehi? They were basically saying this self-sustaining model is going to be the way forward for Arsenal and that Kroenke wants us to win using the money we generate from matchday revenue, sponsorships and broadcasting.

Basically saying he won't be investing for the foreseeable future.

Really good article written earlier on Arseblog about this actually:

Such a negative pair of fasting caants.

They are right, Seebs. Kroenke needs to come under huge pressure and that is earning less with Arsenal.

This game on Wednesday is so massive for us. If we lose, we're facked for years to come.

This self-sustaining model has been killing us for years and the reason why we continue to drop further and further behind everyone else

No it isn't. Look at spurs.

We've just used our resources very badly.

We have one of the highest net spends going, and we have made fack all from selling players in the last 5 or 6 years.
As Tu says, it isnt a lack of investment but bad investment.
Players like Mustafi and Xhaka were in the top 20 most expensive fees when signed...

It is both. Bad investment and a lack of investment to spend over requirements. Injuries hold us also back over the last few years.

Every team has injuries. Our investment in players in more than most.
It is clearly wasting that investment on players like Ozil, Mustafi and Xhaka who haven't improved the team at all.

Thankfully we are doing a bit better recently with the likes of Laca, Auba and Leno.
Just need to learn to make big profits on selling players now and we will be able to buy like Liverpool.

It doesn't help that we always look desperate to sell. The fact that we publicly admitted we need to reduce our wage bill has knocked down few ££ on each player we might sell. But on top of that, I don't think Gazidis was good at contract negotiations.
It will be interesting to see how the new regime gets on. I'm looking at the Ospina story and I think that would be a good barometer. He has played 24 (or 25) games for Napoli, just one short to trigger the option to buy so now they want him at even lower price.
I'm sure someone like Levy or Aulas would get £5M+ for him, maybe even closer to £10M since the player has already played in France, England, Italy and I'm sure he wouldn't mind playing in Spain so there could be few options for him.

Disagree.

In terms of injuries it has hindered us in some season where key players in key positions were longterm injured. It hit us more than our opponents as we havent brought players in over requirements.

Add that we never act proactive in the market and only react in positions every other club knowing we are desperate to cover.

We have one of the biggest squads, and all teams get injuries. Bad excuse.

Proactive transfers...

And according to Monchi our plans for this summer are sorted. Proactive.

Get off the Wenger bus and see the change.

Surely our plans are dependent on who we can sell and what we can recoup

I'd guess they have a list of potential targets and maybe have enquired about availabilities. I doubt things have moved beyond this for the reason you mentioned above.

posted on 28/5/19

I am sure that is all factored into the plan, Crouchy.
I am sure we have one for CL and one for EL too.

posted on 28/5/19

Read somewhere that CL wouldn't give us a huge amount extra percentage wise

Might help attract better players
