You guys remember that list which came out a week or so back outlining how much our first team squad is earning pre-tax? I was surprised that, in and amongst the chaos of that wage bill, no-one picked up on Sokratis earning £92k p/w.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, Sokratis is a solid albeit unspectacular defender. He was decent for us up until the final 6 weeks of the season. But paying £92k p/w for a player in his 30s....

They offered the same for litch, no?
Yeah peebs, Mkhitaryan is on £180k per week
IAWT, can’t find Lich’s but the list I saw was in chronological order from who earns the most to who earns the least and Lich wasn’t even earning more than Guendouzi according to that website

My bad, Litch was on much lower but Suarez was higher than Sokratis.

That was the good news. The bad one is that Ndombele has asked to leave Lyon, so they are now open to sell him with Spurs being front runner
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs are closing on him. Fair to say, we won't finish above them next season either
Yeah, I saw on Twitter.
I actually cannot believe other big clubs, who have more money and pedigree than Spurs, have just sat there and allowed a player of that calibre to go to them.
Honestly. He is a really, really good player. That's so irritating. Gah.
All they need now is to confirm Lo Celso. Then it's going to be a mammoth task to finish ahead of them.
Apparently City did bid £70M which was rejected at the start of the window so hopefully the leak will encourage them to put another bid
Providing Man U don’t strengthen too much, Chelsea are the club we need to be targeting overhauling. Also worth bearing in mind, no one was talking about Ndombele last summer. Maybe someone like Willock will have a breakout season for us?
Crazier things have happened.

------------
The difference is that Lyon have been bringing theirs academy players to first team and turn them into stars for years. It's their business model. Who was our real academy star? Bellerin? Wilshere before that?
Also, Willock and Ndombele are completely different players. Willock is a more attack-minded midfielder. Ndombele is a powerful, box-to-box player with excellent dribbling and good passing. I'd much rather have a player like that than Xhaka in our ranks.
I’ve not seen Ndombele play, so my point was more about players becoming highly rated very quickly these days, rather than comparing him playing wise with Willock.
I agree though about our academy compared to Lyon’s. We used to bring through young players a lot more successfully before we moved to the Emirates.
Which is rather ironic.
Well, IAWT, looks like it’s confirmed that Ndombele is signing for Spurs.
The scary thing is he is the exact type of player they needed.
We’re gonna have to pray that he doesn’t adapt to the Prem otherwise they could be challenging City and Liverpool for the title next season.
You really hate to see it.
