Let’s hope they still have those issues when we play them Lex! Really wanna beat those mugs. Will probably need to seek some form of retribution after our inevitable thrashing at Anfield.

Like I said, I hope you’re right DJ. I want you to be right. And it would be hilarious if Spurs absolutely smash their transfer record on a player that flops. But it remains to be seen.

He is a huge upgrade on Sissoko. But even Sissoko wasn't too bad for them. We all laughed our ar$e off when they paid £35M for him. Fast forward two seasons later and some proper coaching and he could have been a contender for their player of the season.
That is why the thought of Ndombele being coached by Poch is feckin scary.

I don't think this is entirely true. There are a lots of players in ligue one whom would just walk straight in our starting XI and improve us massively. The only issue is that those Arsenal are linked to won't.

This deal for Saliba... presumably the initial amount we'll give St Etienne will equate to little more than a deposit / down payment?

If so, surely it won't eat too much into this summers transfer budget?

Tbh for me, as long as Raul and Vinnie just look to improve the defence, all the other areas can go on a temporary back-burner.

Let the kids show what they can do.

Have to say I'm becoming more and more convinced that Mustafi will still be with us next season...

Reckon Gazidis will come in with a last minute offer

That is the way I see it Lex. I don't think we would splash the full £25M suggested in one go so it has to be down payment, especially if we loan him back.

As for Mustafi, it looks like Kos is on his way out so yeah, Mustafi is likely to stay. Hopefully we drop the back 3 system and Holding is back for the opening game so we won't much of him.

I think as it stands, I'd rather keep one of Chambers or that Greek guy. Both are also on much lower wage so that is also a positive.

Holding, Chambers, Mavropanos, Bielik.

That's potentially quite a lot of young CBs there...

Really need Kos to stay another season.

I'd obviously prefer to keep Kos and sell Mustafi but I doubt that will be the case.

I've said several times that we should not be surprised if Mustafi stays with us. His contract doesn't run out for another 2 years yet and he's on £90k per week.

We've tried to offer him to other clubs, but none of them are interested (partly cos of his ridiculous wages), which I think speaks volume.

He will be with us next season.

As will Mkhi.

Mustafi on £90k per week, and chumps like Godfather still can't see why Wenger had to go.

I don't think the issue with Mustafi is the wages tbh. Don't get me wrong, £90K is a lot but there are many other CBs out there on similar wages. Worth remember as well, when we signed him, he was a full german international.
The issue is that he turned out to be really c.rap and that is all. Even if he was earning only £50k, I doubt we would have been able to shift him.

I get what you're saying, but I disagree, IAWT. If he is on £50k p/w wages, it is much easier to offload him because it widens the pool in terms of who can afford to pay him that money, compared to the top-dollar he is earning right now.

Most of the CBs earning £90k or more are reliable/better than Mustafi. And even though there are CBs earning that amount of money, there are equally plenty more who don't earn that money, who are better.

One of the biggest mistakes we made was giving £90k per week to a CB who was the best out of a bad bunch in an underperforming Valencia team.

The biggest risk with giving unproven players that sort of money is that if it doesn't work out, you are stuck with them.

No-one is willing to take a punt on him, yes partly because he's been rubbish, but mainly it's because his wages are excessive.

Why would other clubs offer him the chance to rebuild his career elsewhere when he would be such a burden financially?

As for Zaha, I think this is what is deterring other clubs from going for him.

United have a 25% sell-on clause, which means Palace are going to demand an even higher price for him. On top of that, he recently signed a new contract.
I've just checked and he still has another 4 years left on his deal.

Palace have no need to sell. Other clubs are reluctant to stump up that much cash.

Zaha's in a sticky situation. He should never have signed a new deal with them if he planned on moving. Or his agent should have negotiated better terms i.e. release clause.
