Within the new structure we've got, it is difficult to tell who has the most power in certain situations, so it's hard know who deserves the largest portion of blame. But if it is true that Emery was the one who was against the signing of Ziyech or anyone of that ilk, he is creating a rod for his own back.

This is effectively his last chance to get us back into the CL. Surely, he'd want us to do everything in our power to get top players in?

But this is why I think maybe it's Sanllehi that is perhaps holding us back on the transfers front. Emery knows how much pressure he's under, but Sanllehi is well-known for unsettling players and trying to get them at a cut-price. It's hard to do that when we're not Barcelona and when we're a Europa League club, though.

Is Sanllehi the problem here?

I'm not sure Samir. I remember reading a transcript from an interview Emery gave just before the final, in which he said that in previous job, he had to win at all cost because of fear of losing his job. But now at AFC, he has time to try building a legacy.
By the sound of it, maybe Raul should have applied some kind of pressure.

I find it hard to believe we'd offer him a new contract if he doesn't get CL football next season though, IAWT. So he won't have time to build a legacy if he effs up.

I guess it will depends by how much we might miss out by? If we are 1 point from top 4, then they will still be people suggesting Emery is still trying to clear out the mess left from previous regime.
If however, we end up finishing 7th or 8th, then he will go for sure.

Spurs are hijacking our move for Salibat.

Serioulsy, just close the door behind you.

I've just seen that now. For god's sake.

Hi goobers, how do you feel about this? Is he any good?

#thfc have outbid Arsenal for Saint-Etienne centre-back William Saliba, offering a €30M fee excluding bonuses. [RMC]

#thfc are due to meet Saint-Etienne tomorrow to potentially finalise the transfer for William Saliba after they made a bid that exceeds his valuation. [RMC]

They have outbid us. We need to increase our offer if we truly want him otherwise we have lost him

I can't believe Spurs are bantering us off in the transfer market. How has it come to this.

Maybe we will go for a player who will actually join us rather than stay at his present club

I'm not sure if there's any point. We have an extremely limited budget, they seem to have money to spend, they're in the CL, brand new stadium, they could be selling Alderweireld to help fund this move too...

Right now, they're a bigger draw than us.

We've totally botched this transfer window completely. This is turning into an unmitigated disaster.

I know

Best case scenario for spurs is that they have stolen a transfer from under our nose

Worst case scenario for them is that they have made us use more funds to get him leaving less to strengthen elsewhere.

We really need to be faster signing players

Another club announces interest in a player and get him a few days later. We announce interest in a player and it’s still being discussed 2 months later with no agreement

Not until we start winning major trophies imo. You bithc slapped us for years, hopefully it's our turn now but we need to start winning trophies other wise it's all rather pointless.

Yup, seen that Levy is meeting Roma officials to discuss move for Alderweireld. The Saliba hijacking makes sense now.
