Yeah I often forget that this guy is only 20 years old. Good point.

Defensively he needs to improve though. We cant let that happen every game for Villa's first goal.

If Emery is brave enough to drop Xhaka you'll see an improvement in defence.

It's not all down to Xhaka. But I don't think he deserves to be starting.

I actually think it is.

We are so slow in our build up with Xhaka that it allows teams to press us more successfully. That puts tremendous pressure on defenders. We used to have the same problem with Arteta but at least Arteta was very good on the ball.

And he is unable to cover anyone on a counter attack. Just look at Villa's second goal. He saw the danger this time, but instead of stopping Grealish out side the box by blocking his run he allowed him to get a head of steam. Sokratis had no chance trying to cover.

And I haven't even started on his comments. That should have been enough to be dropped in any other team. Don't you think the refs listen to the press? Moss came into the game ready to give everyone yellow cards cause he thought we would be hyped to prove that we are not scared. AMN first challenge was never a yellow. But Moss was ready on the trigger.

Emery is 'scared' of losing the fans. I didn't join in but the boos in the stadium were not from a 'section of fans'.

Is he? Xhaka has been hated by the fans pre-Emery. Emery makes Xhaka captain in his second season.

Emery doesn't read ja606 for his analysis. He may have been hated pre-emery here but it wasn't universal.

Erm, pretty sure it was. Not only fans, but the media too were heavily critical of Xhaka.

Emery knows that if we announce to make Xhaka first captain some fans will turn against him.

The media targeted Ozil. Xhaka was down that list. Everyone gets a clean sheet when a new manager comes in apart from Ozil. Think Emery decided he would butt heads with him to prove he is the man. But a dressing room isn't a prison movie and Ozil wasn't the biggest gob.

Whether it was Eboue or anyone for that matter. Once the crowd turns there really isn't a way out.

On a different note....can't remember we exploit the weaknesses of our top 4 opponents and win a game when others lost.

Emery's warts have started to show. But I doubt the hierarchy will move against him till the off-season. Its up to him to rescue the situation. If he puts his faith in Xhaka he may get the boot earlier. I think he knows he is on shaky ground.

I just don't understand.

In Wenger last season, we had a decent attack which was creating lost of chances. We then signed Auba in January. Our issues were defensively.
You'd think any new manager would come try to fix the defence first and then move on to change the attack to his own style.

No structure in attack and no structure in defence. At the moment, we are only rely on Auba/Laca to rescue us game after game after game.
This is unsustainable.
