How?

If there is no option to buy or extend the loan then I don’t see the point of this signing.

He’d need time to adapt and break into the team. Can’t see him having a big impact this season.

Could say that about any January loan tbf.

Signed late in the transfer window, people getting really excited because he did well at other Spanish clubs, minimal time to integrate so will be under pressure to hit ground running and ends up being underwhelming....

I'm happy we're getting an extra body in midfield, as it's needed especially with our congested fixture list, but there's still a chance this won't work out.

I don't remember anyone here being excited about us signing Denis Suarez on loan, Samir. One of the main reasons being he hadn't done constantly well anywhere he's played.

Odegaard and Sociedad fitted well. He was the other option he could chose from. I read that they wanted an option to buy him as his current RM contract expires next year.

If Odegaard really chose Arsenal instead and playing in the PL showing his ambition.

Not sure if he will make it in the PL.

He had done reasonably well when he was loaned at other clubs in Spain e.g. Sevilla, Villareal. I think people were looking forward to him signing because we were just desperate to sign anyone who could help provide width, as it was an area we were struggling in.

'Excited' may not be the right word, but I remember people optimistic and hopeful.

I'm just saying, based on the current circumstances, let's not raise our hopes super high with this kid. It's not as if many of our January loan signings have been outstanding.

Odegaard could go either way like any signing, whether permanent or loan. One of the things I like about this proposed deal is that it's not going down the tried, tested and failed every time route of getting an 'experienced' player in who's been let go mainly to help his parent club slim down their squad and wage bill. They then rock up at the Emirates, sit on the bench (if that) then, if and when they finally play the collective realisation as to why his club were keen to get him out the door becomes immediately apparent.

At least with this guy Real are sending him out as part of his development, rather than because they're just bored of seeing him at the training ground.

As Samir pointed out. We need an extra body in our midfield as we all know that ESR is injury prone an as a youngster will have so and so games at times.

A loan with an option to buy isnt a bad idea as the January market isnt the best for buying in any position.

It would be really annoying if he does really well and we have to send him back though.

Deniz Suarez was injured when he joined and wouldnt want to compare Odegaard with him. I think Odegaard is surely better than Suarez.
