We don't need him, he's the same as what we've got, and he's overpriced
Disagree - quality player will work great as a 3 midfield.
Box 2 box, scores goals great runner with the ball and a superb tackler!
Means we can shift the average players like hudd and Livermore out the club
Can't see one negative in this signing
I haven't seen too much of him, but he is highly rated and other top clubs have been mentioned as having an interest. Lets see if him publicly stating that we've bid for him prompts any other clubs to put an offer in too. What I have seen of him, he seems more defensive than creative, not really of the Moutinho mould and we know AVB wanted a player like that. So given that we have Sandro to return alongside Dembele, I'm not sure he is what we need.
Davidinho or Johninho are much better

No way is he overpriced. I doubt you would get any other Brazilian first teamer`s left leg for less than £30 million. It also sends out a message that Spurs despite not being in the CL can still put in a bid and purchase Brazilian players. All good.
Sandy
I was having a laugh at the OP.. he's top class from what I've seen, if it means we can move on Parker then all the better.
People that say we "don't need him we have <insert name here> in that position are talking rubbish.
You can never have enough good quality players. That said, il believe it only when I see it.
BalesLeftBoot
I thought you may have been on the WUM.
I reckon he would be a great addition, I have not seen a lot of him agreed, but what I have seen of him in the Confederations Cup, he looks more than useful.
As insane says....do we not want quality all over and have top top players fighting it out to make the first 11.......!?
I'm still not confident about his his ability to turn 360 degrees and make a 5 yard pass tho
The only problem is, he does not seem overcommited to the move yet, he says he is waiting until after the tournament, which probably means he is waiting for a bigger club to come in for him. Slightly worrying.
wouldnt it be better to spend that amount of money on a creative midfielder, or do we have money for both and a striker that is my issue
Fair point Dave&Danny.. to be fair it's still June, I'm amazed we're signing anyone. Let alone a regular in the Brazil side.
plus a record transfer fee for us
If he truly scores goals then he is very much needed. When is the last time we had a cm who scored anything other than the odd goal for us?
Certainly will improve our midfield and you can never have enough quality players.
I will believe it when I see it though, we have been here before being linked to top class players for it to only fall through.
Gazza probably
Paulinho's 24 and sure to feature for them at the World Cup. A great investment on a quality player.. Shows we're serious about breaking into the top 4 next season.
AVB wants to play 433, we need fast, strong box-to-box midfielders. As Parker will be leaving, Paulinho is his replacement. He'll be a massive upgrade to our midfield. Can see THudd leaving too.
doovde a very expensive replacement , we have pace and power now, we need creativity
daveanddanny.
i understand your point. infact i highlighted creative mid as a priority over striker this summer... BUT, what i meant by that is we need contribution from midfield, whether goals or assists... if this guy is going to score significant goals from centre mid, then that i certainly have no qualms with that. also assuming we move on hudd parker and livermore, then we certainly need more than one cm... and he looks like a huge step up in quality from any of those. if he turns out to be our only signing then i would be concerned, but i think its clear we will spend in other areas too
Defo a trade up on Parker.....who we will get a few £m for
Im with Rover here, he is ok but Stewartinho and Mikeinho are far better signings.
so lets say he is direct replacement for parker...lets say he costs us 15m before add ons which may or may not come about.
lets say we sell parker for 3 mill.
thats 12 mill net spend on transfer fees for a man who appears to be of a much higher quality, and is 8 years younger......
parker also surely has to be towards our top earners, and maybe we might make some wages savings too...
dont see the issue
mikeinho is overrated
Now kevinho.. he's special
