Best and only player on the pitch today. Our best player of the season so far too....
I would like to see AVB try Townsend on the left instead of Siggy when Lennon is available again.
From what I've seen I don't see the Townsend hype.
Yes he's direct but he doesn't vary his game. No off-the-ball runs, no passing/one-two's instead of the shot.
I know people will say he's young and he'll improve but on the face of it he's not that young at all. He's 22? Older than neymar, older than Lucas moura, similar age to Oscar, hazard, isco, coutinho and gotze who are all far superior (and different admittedly).

It was the same with Townsend, after the second game of the season everyone saying how he is better than Lennon. Tbf I do like Townsend a lot he has been good this season, but Lennon has been our best player over the past 5 years.

I don't get people saying Townsend should be dropped - he was the only threat we had today and put some decent crosses in the box in the first half from his right foot, but every time there was only Defoe in there. I love how direct he is, he beats players for fun. In my opinion he was out best player today. If like to see him on the left, wide the play out rather than having to cut in
