Is that your first half century mate?

Bumble on Zipgate tweet........... = Ball tampering ..IMO ..punishment needs to be harsher if culprit is IDentified ..failing that , suspend Captain ....only my opinion

Vaughn on twitter = 50% match fee ,, 5 run penalty.... What a load of rubbish.... Anyone caught ball tampering should be banned for at least 10 matches ... #IMO

completely agree.

No mention of ball tampering in post match interviews - absolute disgrace
Would have been first question if it has been a player involving any asian team.

Pakistan also tamper with the ball.

Neon,

Stop going off topic mate... This is about Saffers tampering a cricket ball. If you wana tamper with your own, do it in your own time and space... We don't want to know 👍👍👍

agreed afridi. I remember when tendulkar was caught ball tampering. Lool that was like one the biggest mistakes ever made in cricket.

I hope the media bulldozes these questions to Smith. I saw the video and FAf and Philander were tampering. I think AB needs to arrange an appointment with the opticians ASAP.

I still dont understand why these players havent been banned yet. I swear afridi was banned for 2 matches.

As per match ref, celebrating in not so gracious manner is more offensive than cheating.Cannot fathom how Boon considered actions of Faf as accidental.

Ball tampering is far more serious than a 5 run penalty in my opinion, it's getting more common too, Graeme Swann was constantly scratching the ball using his trouser zip in the ashes.

First thing to be done is banning zips from cricket uniforms, it's not like they are required.

PDIT - ridiculous how they have come to that conclusion. I concur with michael vaughn and bumble that stricter punishment should have been given.....

Duncan - the ICC has given all teams until 2015 - yes 2015, to change their uniforms and make them zipless.... why the feckkkkk 2015 and not sooner is beyond me... The ICC is a joke

how about discussing the SA ball tampering debate rather then dragging up an ashes series your lot got wallaped in Duncan? hmmm excuses I wonder.

Ok back onto this debate.. how can one team be banned players and another not? A zip can cause just as much if not more damage then scarching the ball.. just imagine if the player went out with a zip sharpened on purpose?

Wasn't Afridi banned for trying to eat the ball? He may have been banned for stupidity. But never the less he was trying to alter the condition of the cricket ball and that's what SA were doing aswell..
Teams try and scuff up the ball by throwing it into the wicket ends on practice pitches.. and they some times get warned by the umpires. But to try and alter the ball with a zip.. that's going over the top.

posted on 26/10/13

Yeah, afridi was banned for 2 games and rightly so.... it was more stupidity than anything else, but thats not the point...... A bit of consistency from the icc wouldnt go amiss would it. No wonder the BCCI have got the ICC in their backpocket - they are just a toothless bunch

Fine was just a swept under the carpet sort of action.Faf would not have done it without clear instructions from Smith. I think this severe punishment to Faf suggest that Pakistan is in a very weak position in ICC .The spot fixing saga complemented by attitude of then incumbent chairman of PCB Ijaz's Butt has put us in a weak position.

posted on 26/10/13

Chairman of Interim Committee of PCB has sought clarification from ICC on inconsistency of punishment handed over to players caught tampering. Afridi was given 2 t-20 bans and Faf has been only been handed 50% fine.
Obviously, this will not increase punishment to Faf but good on part of PCB to express its concern.

posted on 27/10/13

ICC will brush it under the carpet quick no matter what PCB contest.

posted on 27/10/13

PCB could not have done anything more than seeking clarification from ICC and voicing its opinion.

posted on 27/10/13

PCB have done the right thing as has waqar younis who has come out and said that Saffers have lost credibility.

Pity the like of rameez raja and wasim have kept quite on the issue... Rameez raza is a complete utter moron who is quick to slate Pakistan more than any other team. Needs to grow a pair

I can't believe de Villiers..how someone can stand up and say their team doesn't cheat when there is such conclusive evidence and a guilty plead is beyond me. Disgraceful.

posted on 27/10/13

Jeeeeeezzzzzz, one was using his teeth and the other was using his pant's zipper...which one is the worst crime?

It's very dumb writing a letter ICC asking for an explanation. They obviously return the letter with my words in mellifluous way.

Leave Faf alone..

posted on 27/10/13

It doesn't matter, both were committing the same crime.

posted on 27/10/13

AB went down in my estimation. They have honest and hounourable player's like Amla and Kallis in the side and then for the vice skipper to blindly deny the charge when it was so obvious.

posted on 27/10/13

whatever the outcome of the letter from PCB and icc, it doesnt look like the SCA or PCB are going to have a tiff over it..... Apparently pakistan are considering a short tour to south africa next month, just before the sri lanka series......

Faf was using his zip? If it makes you feel any better England would've won anyway.
