Hi Metro,

Felt exactly the same about Breaking Bad, was very 'meh' after the hype it had been given. Usually I'd give up on it, but very glad I stuck with it. Incredible show, probably the best 'series' I've ever watched.

Breaking Bad is the best show this century.

Both great shows and worth watching to the end but they got nothing on Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire

You have to get past the first season of breaking bad to get to the good parts, the first season sets the entire thing up, but can be a little underwhelming.

I love Game of Thrones

However, Breaking Bad is probably the best TV series/drama I have ever seen, and as I'm in my early 40's I've seen a fair few.

The Walking Dead is also excellent. In fact Metro you've named my 3 favourite series. If you like the other two stick with Breaking Bad. I can guarantee you won't regret it.

Breaking Bad. No contest tbh.
The first series starts off mild, but by season 3 you'll be bleeding from your eyelids at what you're witnessing

anyone read the Game of thrones books? after reading them the series starts to look kind of crap.py actually

Breaking bad is brilliant, alongside Deadwood and The Wire as the best things I have ever seen (Boardwalk Empire could challenge as well)

Game of Thrones is very good, have a bad feeling it will end up being cancelled before all the books are shown though because there is about another 10 series worth I think.

I felt the same about breaking bad but i stuck with it due to how good people were rating it and i have to say it was most definitely worth it. Season 4 and 5 are some of the best tv I've ever seen.

Breaking bad is an all-time great. Can't think of a better series. If you have a short attention span and you love your shows fast paced, it's probably not for you. Especially the first 3 seasons which could really crawl but by the season 4, the build up was all well worth it.

Game of Thrones is good, but I wouldn't class it near the same level of Breaking Bad.

only thing which could really compete with BB was Dexter which plumeted after season 4 anyway

I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan but BrBa is the best

also there will be about 7 series of GoT as their will be 7 books (so far)

GRRM has only written 5 of them so far

Also the books are brilliant if anyone is interested in reading, I'm currently on the 5th one

One great thing about Breaking Bad was the sheer consistency of excellence across all seasons. You never felt disappointed at any stage with the work. Unlike a good many series with fantastic starts that just tapers off into mediocrity, like "Lost" or "Prison Break" or recently "Homeland". Or the brilliant "Dexter" which got progressively slightly worse until an appalling ending.

"Breaking Bad" was ace from start to finish.

Breaking Bad all the way. Incredible show. Wish I was in your shoes and could watch it for the first time again.

Game of Thrones is very good too.

I think GoT will go to the big screen rather than get cancelled if interest starts to wane. Showing in a couple of hours what is normally shown in about 10 should re-ignite any fading interest.

I gave up with Dexter, it just became formulaic and too far fetched.

Breaking Bad started interestingly and then just blew me away with the storyline, script and acting.

Both are excellent TV series imo. However I dont think you can really compare them. They are two extremely different shows in different worlds, cover different themes, Game of Thrones has a huge cast, Breaking Bad small etc.

I have read all the Thrones books so far and so far I have been impressed with how well they managed to bring what are outstanding novels to life on screen. Game of Thrones has been consistently interesting and believe me the next season could be in many ways the best yet.

Breaking Bad is one of those shows that just got better and better. For that reason even if it is a bit slow at points for the first few seasons stick with it. Because by the last couple of seasons it reaches a whole other level in terms of quality compared to any other modern drama on TV. So I would say watch both, otherwise you miss out on two shows that are frankly superior to anything else in their field.

Nah, some of the books are split in to 2 parts, the 4th series is going to finish the '3rd' book, then series 5 will be book 4, then s6 & 7 will do book 5 pt1 & 2

It is a fantastic series and the 2nd last episode of s3 was one of those moments where your mouth drops open and you think 'what the fúck have I just watched' it was fantastic.

I've read 3 of the books, and they are equally as good.

I hear Blacklist is quality, but never seen it.

By I agree with what people are saying about Dexter. It could have been a classic show, maybe even an all time great. But after 3-4 seasons awful plot writing etc just killed what was good about it off. The less said about that dreadful final season the better.

I have heard some stories in GoT seasons 1-3 come from later books and the such to make it easier to transfer to TV. So number of books may not equal seasons.

Breaking Bad was brilliant.

Have started watching Dexter and Walking Dead. Dexter is very good up to where I've watched (series 3), but Walking Dead after initially being decent, started getting a bit repetitive. When you put it next to Breaking Bad it's made to look like EastEnders or any other soap opera.

Possibly not, but I don't think 8+ seasons is out of the question.
