quite a few clubs have been relegated while lucking their way to a domestic cup semi or final. kiss of death really especially if you are fighting relegation.

Wigan are the only one I can think of that have been really effected by it.

At this stage of the season getting to the league cup semi isn't really the kiss of death for them. Though the injuries they've been picking up, dunno how lany have been in the league cup, are going to hamper them and keep them down there.

Total collapse by Atletico there after conceding in the 89th and 93rd minute.

Lucky, lucky barstewards.

Felt a bit sorry for hull conceding the second goal, I thought Silva set them up well and given the injuries, they put up a good fight.

United really do look better when Carrick is playing, both in terms of shape and him controlling the passing.

Birmingham City had a poor run after they won the League Cup (didn't they get relegated?). Swansea were pretty much rubbish for the rest of that season and the season after, as were we.

It does affect teams if they go on good cup runs. How much it affects the teams depends on how much quality they have.

Birmingham did yeah, but I don't think the league cup was the kiss of death for them, though. They still had plenty of time to stay up.

Cup runs have an effect, but Wigan are the only one I'd say the cup killed them.

put a little bit of pressure on this liverpool defence and they fold like a deck of cards.

If Jose gets his tactics right united should win on sunday. Klavan???Where does klopp find these players

posted on 11/1/17

Klavan excellent? Ffs, Liverpool fans are so deluded about their players. Especially the defenders.

Don't think I've seen Can play well. Is he only in the side because he's German?

When the owners won't give Klopp any money he has to take what he can find on the cheap.

Or develop young players......such as Klavan

Liverpool terrible. Southampton have let them off the hook.

For all the good management Klopp and Pochettino make some weird signings

posted on 11/1/17

Yep Redmond with two great opportunities. Liverpool have been very poor. No urgency in midfield. I don't rate Henderson but he moves it forward quickly. Can is such an average player. If he wasn't German nobody would rate him.

But they have peanuts to spend...and they prefer to develop players rather than sign them anyway...

That's why he got Klavan....cheap, but has many years ahead to learn the Klopp way

Southampton going to regret this. Still expect Liverpool to go through at 1-0. 2-0 and Saints have got a good chance. 3-0 like it should have been and it's theirs, IMO.
