We looked better under Hodgson ffs and actually beat Germany and Brazil.

And France and Portugal. Now we can't even beat the big teams in friendlies.

Did ok defensively in the 2 games but you eventually need to score. If Kane was to get injured we'd be royally screwed.

No but that isn't the point.

As long as people are getting too hyped over these games because we happened to not lose to 2 great teams.

I'm certainly not getting hyped after those 2 0-0s but it's constant doom and gloom about England on here when in actual fact we have one of the best squad of players going to the World Cup and yet we seem to be the only nation of supporters who are saying we've failed before a ball has been kicked.

Flashy, I don't think you can blame people. We had a good and exciting squad going into the Euros. We had players in form, and we didn't even get to face a big team and look how that ended?

The Euros was so disappointing. The fact there were so many Spurs players involved too made it worse. But Spurs like England are a young team who have stepped up a level even since then. Plus I have this weird feeling this World Cup is gonna be Kane's if the team can be solid and keep it tight. Just seems the way it's going for Kane on his rise at the minute.

Maybe, maybe not. You'd like to think Kane will have a good World Cup but the team around him will help dictate that, and with England you're never sure of them actually looking like a team at a tournament.

The worrying thing for me under Southgate so far is that we aren't creating a great deal of chances already, no matter what the team.

Southgate banging on about character and resilience in his post match interview. Who cares about all of that guff? It's just meaningless having character and fůcking resilience when you can't put together a 3 pass move in the opposition box without giving it away.

I'm more frustrated because I think we do have a set of players that could cause teams problems if they were set up the right way. I've just got no confidence at all Southgate will do it, or even choose the right people in the first place.

Exactly that Melton. We have enough players to make a more than decent team. Any of the top 6 managers in charge of this squad and we'd give a good account of ourselves.



Well not Wenger but..

You did say Spurs like England have stepped up a level since then. So you can understand my confusion, because England have actually gone backwards since then.

My bad. What I mean is a lot of people are hammering Kane's etc performance at the Euros as reason why they will fail at the World Cup, but they've stepped up a level now in play and in maturity.

I think Kane will suffer due to Southgate's set up. He has the quality to play well and score goals off his own back but we don't create enough chances with the way Southgate has us playing.

Rashford and Sterling, along with Rose and Walker behind them will cause International sides problems, no matter how Southgate sets them up.

Kane might not get the amount of chances he would at Spurs, but it's up to him to be clinical whenever he does.

We've looked 'solid' in these games, because we've had a back five and two defensive minded midfielders. One of those (Livermore) needs to come out for someone like Lallana or Winks (would have been Wilshere if he could stay fit), who'll be happy to

*happy to have the ball to feet in tight areas, and keep possession.

Pot 1 looks very scary.

Pot 1 has some weak teams. Poland, Portugal and the hosts are hardly the scariest.

Yeah some beatable teams in there, even Germany and Brazil who we managed to shut out is well. No Spain is a blessing
