Word on KdB and Gundogaan, what players. Really dragged City to a close finish when all dropped their heads.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

KdB was crap. Gundogan only marginally better.

Neither was anywhere to be seen when their team needed them most.

Credit to the Liverpool midfield for shutting them down.

Indeed. KdB wasn't actually that bad 1st half. But second half the team needed a leader and he was nowhere to be seen.

Time and again, Fernandinho needed blue shirts running towards him instead of away. A top midfielder should be able to read and react to those situations.

Of the seven managers who have faced Pep Guardiola in 10+ matches just one has a winning head-to-head (W-D-L) record:

José Mourinho: 4-6-10
Joaquín Caparrós: 0-3-10
Mauricio Pochettino: 2-4-6
Jürgen Klopp: 6-1-5
Arsène Wenger: 3-3-6
Manuel Pellegrini: 2-1-8
Unai Emery: 0-4-6

They missed Silva to control things for them. They were all De Bruyne and no brain...

This game wouldn't have helped Aguero's standing with Pep. Was sloppy and made the wrong decisions throughout and couldn't offer the energy and movement expected from him. He only stayed on the pitch cos City had no other options with Jesus injured.

We need to sign Pep up before we play PSG then

City to be honest look very different without Silva. Even when they thrashed Spurs, you could see it. They don't exert the same control in midfield.
Lost the game today in a mad spell of a few minutes where their hubris in refusing to get rid of the ball when in danger bit them on the arrse.

Carriagher said exactly what I said about the similarity of firminho goal to the one Fowler scored against Man U. Brilliant analysis from me

Didn't get all the "Revenge for Mane" stuff in the commentary.

I'm pretty sure he got a red at the Etihad for sticking his studs in Ederson's face.

I don't know what Carragher said, but it's probably total nonsense.

Thought De Bruyne was good, Aguero and Gundogan were the issue. They only started playing with ten minutes to go.

Fernadinho's passing was dire, Danillo and Aguero might as well have been playing at Goodison and Gundogan proved that he can only play as a replacement for David Silva when it's gainst mid table teams.

posted on 14/1/18

Fernandinhos passing was a lot down to Gundogan not providing an outlet like Silva does though, although I agree he didn’t have a great game either. None of our players did, which says a lot in itself.
