Back to teams that actually play football, Livorno beat Robur Siena 1-0 to wrestle back top spot in Grp A of Serie C.

With 6 games to go, Livorno now hold the automatic promotion slot by 2 points and still have a game in hands over the thieves from Sienna.

Wales v Uruguay in the China Cup final at 12:35.
It is on S4C, which is Sky channel 134.

Does the winner get a 64-piece tea set?

No, just one china cup.

Does it seem like that much of an achievement for Bale to break the Wales top scorer record? I didn't realise it was as low as it was.

You only need to be a half decent Welsh goalscorer to break it. Danny Welbeck would make their top 10.

Int'l goals aren't all that easy to come by, much less for the less competitive nations on the stronger footballing continents.

I find it more surprising that Colombia's and Scotland's all-time records stand at just 29 and 30 goals, respectively.

Those countries probably have many more int'l goals to their name than Wales.

A lot of International scoring records are around that level, tbf.
Beating Ian Rush, among others, is an achievement I would say.

Russia 30
*Belgium 31 (Lukaku already holds it with years to go)
Paraguay 32
Italy 35 - possibly the most remarkable, imo

I get that it might be quite tough for smaller nations who don't have all the talent around them, but it does sort of show the level of quality strikers/attackers countries like Wales and Scotland have had to put up with for years.

Yeah International goal scorers is low for most countries.

Before David Villa surpassed it, Spains top scorer with Raul was 44 which isn't that much either.

It's worth reading this list to give it some perspective. 1 in 2 is traditionally a good record for most international goal scorers.

Poul Nielsen managed 52 goals in 38 matches for Denmark, a strike rate of 1.37gpg.

Think there's a lot more international games these days as well. Such as in Rush's era Wales would only have played in a 4 team qualifying group. 6 games, and they were probably the 3rd or 4th best in those groups.

Yep. I'd expect records to be broken more regularly in this era.

Bale did it in less games than Rush played, tbf.

A lot more teams of lesser quality, I guess you could say. Wales were arguably the ones at the bottom of the pile in the Rush era, so would be playing better teams. Now, of course, you have the likes of San Marino and Gibraltar coming in below.

It's decent from Bale, who isn't even a striker, and he will ultimately go on to smash that record with years left to play for Wales.

You'd think they'd have produced a striker since Rush by now who would have got near it.

Bale, Suarez and Cavani all start today.

Ben Woodburn on the bench. 1-0 down with 10 mins to go and Giggs pushes Ashley Williams up front to rescue it. Good old Giggs. No wonder no club wanted him as a manger.
