Think Belgium doing the same too.
Don’t see the point of Delph in a more forward thinking midfield position.

8 changes for England!
Only Lingard, Stones and Pickford remain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thought lingard should be rested and RLC left in to be honest.
might be like the last 10 minutes of the poland japan game tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be more like that if both sides played the first team players. They’d not want to risk injury, even less so than squad players looking to impress.

The second string players will want to impress, but not ulitmately be responsible for an elimination by brazil in the quarters.

Having looked at the potential path to the final, if England can get past Colombia, on paper anyway, finishing 2nd should be an easier route to the Final than winning. Only really strong team are Spain on England’s half of the draw if they are runners up.
Think I actually want England to lose this match.
A solution to these problems of course would be to do a draw after each round.
for the 16 you can have winners in pot 1 and runners up in pot 2, would mitigate this enormously

been making this point since the germans lost their opening game
Unless someone hits an Own Goal....
Go for the win and send out a message!!
Attack Attack Attack!!
Can see us losing and everyone being happy, then losing to Columbia
Would rather get Japan, try and finally win a knockout game for the first time in what seems like forever, and then see what happens from then on.
Would’ve been happy with QF and good performances this summer when we started, with Southgate looking at least like he has a long term plan for the style and team, to continue it in 2020 and 2022.

Makes it hard to plan to follow if you’re out there though. Already know possible locations/dates from the start now.

I'm rationalising it by thinking that if we top the group, then it's our best path to getting revenge on teams that have beaten us before i.e. Brazil, France/Portugal.
You shouldn't want them to lose though. Wish for them to get an honourable draw and finish second.

Yeah, me too. If England lose tonight it won’t bother me too much. I was thinking after the Panama game that it would be better if England just keep winning and send out a strong signal of intent to the other teams though.
Not really... teams will still know what they have to do to qualify for next round. So they will still play negatively.
They dont really care who they play.
Getting through to last 16 is the achievement.
Then the shackles will come off in a do or die knockout game...

Only 4 teams have ever won every world cup game..
cant see this england side matching that,
17 of the 20 teams to win it have remained unbeaten though,
Statistically we want a draw

Never knew Cosmic was Spanish, but if he wants to be deleted...
So Ronaldo will watch Messi qualify for the quarters before battling Uruguay under so much pressure. Staurday will cap a bad week for Ronaldo fan boys
Big mistake making all these changes imo. Win tonight and we play Japan, otherwise it’s Columbia.
