A few more defeats and England will be playing Scotland ladies.
A few more defeats after that they'll be playing the Scotland mens team.

that didn't turn out too well last time did it
If England had Xavi they'd have won the WC. If England had Gerrard we'd have done no better.
World Cups, European finals and Champion Leagues.
Those two will go down as two of the greatest of all time

Out of interest would Liverpool fans say Xavi and Iniesta were better players than Gerrard?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah probably
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was thinking the other day that Ronaldo and Messi’s dominance is a direct result of the dominance of Barca and Madrid. Not to say at their peak they were anything but special but right now both players are luxury players.
Ronaldo will strugggle in Italy and move to the US. Messi will continue to plunder laliga in the comfort of Barca but will struggle elsewhere

A nice dose of reality after the highs of last summer.
Positives? We're one of the few squads not suffering the usual slew of player retirements after a major tournament.
All the pieces are still there. We just need to build up a bit of momentum.
I don't believe Iniesta is superior to Gerrard or Lampard. He excels at a different facet of the game which needs excellent players like those Barca and 2008-2012 Spain had in abundance to complement his qualities. They couldn't do what he does. But neither could he ever do what Lampard and Gerrard produced week in, week out in England.

And judging by the attack tonight we could have done without Vardy retiring.

Go and have aie down. Technically he was on another level. One of the very best players of his generation and better than any player England has produced in it's entire footballing history.

He won everything partly because he played for one of the finest club sides of all time and a national team ranked probably behind only 1970 Brazil as the finest of all time. Technique is not all that matters in football. Liverpool didn't win the CL in 2005 because of how technically proficient they were. Iniesta is technically superior, but when Lampard is scoring 20-something goals every facking season, it's silly to make it out like technical proficiency is all that mattered.

We hardly laid a glove on Busquets in the first half. This was obvious as soon as I saw the 5 "attacking" players we flooded our midfield with.
The game changed as soon as Dier came in. I'd have preferred to have Delph snapping at the Spanish midfield myself.
Probably even both of them together, against a side like Spain.
Kane saying the ref bottled: perhaps, to some degree, but we lost to a better team-they deserved it, we didn’t.

Give me Lampard over Iniesta every day of the week
I’d rather have someone who guarantees goals/assists than someone who controls the ball in tight areas, dribbles past a few players then makes a 5 yard sideway pass
