Doesn’t bring much to the table for England, though. Which is the big problem. You can defend him all you like, but he’s a big part of a midfield that lacks the quality to compete against the top international teams in midfield.

Henderson is England’s scapegoat. He may not be the most technical player but what he does is break up play, keep things ticking and has one hell of an engine. We have other players that can do the pretty stuff but don’t downplay the importance of having a Henderson in your team. Just look at Arsenal post Viera

Was saying a while ago that some countries seem to knock out certain players more than others. Its not finite obviously but Argentina, England and Brazil font make many top class cms but dozens of forwards. Spain don't make strikers. Holland don't make fbs. Italy don't make wingers. Again probably a bit of a lazy assessment but only France and Germany seem to produce everything.

When you have Sancho, Sterling and Rashford running at teams we’re always going to get pens. Chuck Kane diving in there and it’s no surprise we get so many.
