Good result. I know Phillips is getting a lot of plaudits but I didn’t like that midfield set up.

What did you not like? I thought it was brilliant. 57% possession against a world class midfield.

Way too static for me. There was no outpass for the midfield between the first ten minutes and the goal (which was the first bit of actually decent movement from the midfield).

It is, I just don’t think we dominated the ball as well as we could in the right areas. A lot of that will be down to the defence having to recycle the ball a fair bit.
First game though and good result.

Bellingham or Mount in the midfield would enable us to shift the ball forward (also from defence to midfield, which was an issue today) could make a difference. Rice and Phillips (who was excellent at pressing today) aren't the best players to receive the ball on the turn.
