The upset points are not really a worry, in fact if it were not for predict a finalist being pointless I would be with Rex on using the pro tour OoM.

The fact that they are reversed encourages people to go for the same results too much. Why wouldn't you go for the better player if his winning also results in more points? It's gonna make the game ridiculous.

Look, the point of the ranking is to determine an order of talent/form so that we can make decisions as to how good a prediction is. The rankings this tournament uses basically look like I sh'at them after eating 11 oranges.
I think your argument is bad TBH.

What sense is there in having Kellett ranked above Taylor? 'just a bit of fun'

Why will it be a snorefest? Explain why this will be so much worse without having an illogical OoM?
I agree with TCW, go with the real OoM. Will take out the risk of plumping for the underdog when the likes of Taylor, Wade and Barney are the underdog.

You're not winning me over at all on this i'm afraid.

Because it will be dull. Everyone will back the underdog who is in fact top 5 in the real OoM.
It would be totally pointless going against Wade if he is up against someone like White in the first round, whereas using the real OoM would have me backing White all the way.

RAP that is why you never win.

No, because you are sensible in your predictions.
If you perform at an acceptable standard for the tournament and then get 2/3 pp's for the semis and final you are likely to win.

No. As DJ said, it won't be crazy. Everybody will pick up the same amount of points for all the obvious fixtures. Nobody will go for a favourite who's actually 8/1 to win.
