Intimidated by Mourinho

You do realise Mourinho wanted the Utd job, so how would Fergie be intimidated by a man that wanted to replace him at Utd since he was retiring?

Another stupid article from you, at least you are consistent

He retired because his wife's sister died and she felt alone, he had to be there with her.

He went because the latest crop of Utd youngsters coming through is gash and he wanted no part in their failures.

Sir Alex Ferguson "intimidated"?!

I'm sure he saw Jose as a very worthwhile and dangerous threat. I'm sure he respects the hell out of him for what he's achieved. I think he'd even concede Mourinho as a worthy adversary in the mind games they love to play. But never intimidated. Never.

The only man who probably ever intimidated Fergie was Jock Stein, but even then that was only due to the immense love and respect he had for the great man.

I dont mean to be funny but head to head Mourinho beats Fergie, We know it, you know it and Fergie knows it.

The fact he was coming back and Fergie knew Utd were on their last legs with the poor quality of players he thought the better of staying a few extra years.

Yes but if you add the prospect of Mourinho coming it makes for an even speedier exit.

Mourinho wasn't coming back when SAF made his decision in December to retire...

He was 71 year old when he called it quits...71!!!

Can't see the bold Jose even reaching that age.

Well done son, you surpassed yourself here

If SAF had been a few years younger and his wife's sister was still alive he would have relished building another team with the 100m+ Moyes may well get

It was time and I believe everybody knew it!
Intimidation...Nah... No way.
To leave as a winner and with honour and grace is the only way and the way of a legend. (wish some players could understand this)!
Only criticism I have is that he shoud have done the dishes before he left!

To be honest after the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand then watching SAF on touchline how much the real madrid game meant to him at OT I thought then it was his last season. Mourinho had his last battle with SAF and ronaldo came back to OT so it was a fitting end really even if we lost.

Surely he would have quit after Mourinho won 2 titles in his last premier league stint... when Chelsea were the only billionaire club and it were looking like they could dominate for decades to come?

He had to also have an operation I believe to which made his decision to retire to. He always says good health and he would continue but his hip operation probably meant that now its time to take a back seat over it.

I'll use small words and short sentences;

Fergie was retiring (would have retired 2 years ago if we had won the title)
Mourinho wanted to manage Utd
Mourinho went to Chelsea because Utd didn't want him
No one intimidates Alex Ferguson
If you know anything and that's a mighty big if, Fergie loves a challenge
The team Fergie had when Mourinho took over was worse than this one and he took them to the top and beat Mourinho who got subsequently sacked

Speaking of sayings, I've never heard anyone say "has the saying goes" to be fair.

Are you intimidated by using the correct words?

has the the saying goes

and a 71 year old quits! Theres been allot of stupid things said on ja but this certainly ranks amoung the stupidest. You clearly know nothing op about fergie, as mentioned above fergie has stated many times about how his wifes sister, who was her best friend, died last year and fergie knew she needed him to be home with her, im obviously not a big fergie fan but the man achieved so much in football, putting so much of his time and effort in and the expense of his family. If ever a man in football earned his retirement its fergie. Being a child though op id not expect you to understand

This makes no sense! What the hell has the wifes sister got to do with football? As for Fergie needing to be at being at home with the wife give me a break! That is a silly excuse! Its not like he is away from home for months. I doubt he spent that much time away from home. If anything I am sure he had more free time than the average 9 - 5 guy. Training is is complete before 1pm and Fergie was not there always.

I can understand him saying he had enough but to use the wifes sisters death?

Yes he would have quit but then again it would have been humilating for him. I am sure he was the happiest person in the EPL when Mourinho left.

Yes Mourinho wanted UTD but Fergie did not want him to take UTD to new heights. If anyone was going to get credit he would not want it to be Mourinho. He picked his fellow Scot. And look what happened

Also, If Fergie loves a challenge what is stopping him from coming back? Oh please dont say his wife or old age

He can come back next year if he so wants to. But then again I guess it would be him admitting he made a mistake and he would have to face the special one agina. Not sure he is up for that challenge.
