Sacking Houghton with only 5 games to go makes no sense whatsoever any manager coming in now doesn't have enough time to make a difference. If they lose against Fulham they're gone I think.

Unbelievable. If they were miles behind survival then fair enough (although there's so little time left, it would still be idiotic) but they're not even in the bottom 3. All it takes is a scrappy win at Craven Cottage (Fulham's home form has been abysmal of late may I add) and then they're around 14th. Obviously the fights not over then but Fulham would then be stuck whilst dragging other clubs into the scrap. Completely pointless and even if they do survive the drop, they would have done it anyway with Houghton still in charge

Worst time to sack Houghton. He was rumoured to be going by New Years. Best time to get rid of manager is right on mid season if you have to at least the other men gets some time. Can only think that the board gave him a chance but with 5 points and 5 games to go it's too much of a risk. They presumably didn't want him to be there next season and it's a multi million pound move.

Honestly, I have to credit the board on the principle that they did their best to stick by their Manager, his head was on a stick for ages.

However, sacking him now must mean they've given up on the idea of staying in the league. Preparing for the future with the parachute money.

Manager's sacking's are overplayed, people like to get on their highhorse but when you think outside the box, almost all off them have good reasons.

Here's the scary thing - Rodgers is now the 4th longest serving manager in the league

He was appointed in June 2012

I completely agree but not in this case. If their remaining game were winnable and there was more to play, then I'd say fine. But there's five game left, 4 of them seem hopeless, and it's only their away form that is letting them down. Their home form is midtable standard

Feckin' hell.

Apart from Arsene, who's the longest serving Manager in the league right now?

Maybe in terms off the timing it's a bit off chambers, but Norwich look a shadow of what they did under Lambert and are floating around aimlessly looking to get by. They could have someone lined up with a real plan going forward.

It's a desperate act of trying to initiate a response, but in the longterm it can have a damaging effect.

The Di Canio is a severe example.

If they get the response from the players which sometimes a new manager brings it's a gamble which could pay off. Alternately you could have a situation like Cardiff with OGS, but that was slightly different as they have a lunatic running the club.

Norwich are rolling the dice and it's maybe not such a bad move.

If all twenty PL managers were £500m to spend, three vlubs would still be relegated.
Would that justify sacking all three?

Paisleys, tbh i don't think sacking MacKay was that bad a move, he weren't that good.

The way he was treated and who his successor was is a different matter.

All things being equal, yes, yes it would, unless there was massive extenuating circumstances.
