Coates would need to improve a lot, looks quite slow in games played a year or two ago.
I thought Coates was excellent in pre-season and deserves the chance to fight for a place this season.
If so hope he kicks players like Skrtel and Sakho into gear.
I wouldn;t say Coates was 'excellent' in preseason. Decent. Better than I've seen before (not much of course) but still a little too rash in the challenge and could wander out of position.
Hes pretty much the same age as Lovren and Sakho and has hardly played a game in the last 3 years neither for club nor country. I'm not sure he's got what it takes. A season long loan somewhere is needed
Keeping Coates over Kolo makes more sense as he is younger and has time to develop. Loan him out to get some game time and I reckon he would be a good 3rd/4th choice defender.
Romero looks good competition for Mignolet.
Was 2nd choice of Monaco last season on loan from Samp.
He looked capable enough in the World Cup, though obviously haven't seen a lot of him.
Good backup although I would have loved the Mexican keepee

Apparently we're looking to give Sterling £120K a week, I can't see us giving that much to someone so youny, but equally don't want to miss out on Sterling's talents like United have with Pogba.

I think it was a mixture of wanting more money and a certain amount of guaranteed playing time, either way United missed out on a great player.
It was because he wasn't being played. They brought Scholes back instead of playing him.

He's a very good box-to-box midfielder that has the potential to be great. He's still 20.
Its the same as us getting excited with Sterling. Its the potential to be great.
