You're forgetting that the reason he wants to leave is his role, which is the same if he moved to us.

He won't walk into the 11 of course not; but I have every faith he could become an integral member of the team. The form of our current midfield is excellent but won't last all season and then we need players who can replace them.

He is not going to replace Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Coutinho or Lallana as they are all better than him. He is not going to replace Mane or Salah as they are better than him.

He will be back up to several positions, which is great and I'd love it to happen but why would he want to have the same role at Liverpool which is forcing him out at Arsenal?

Oh and that gets even more difficult when Keita joins next season and potentially Lemar this season.

Can, Wijnaldum (especially away), Lallana and Henderson are all prone to poor spells of form or injury, and that's when you can see other players cement their position in the first team, such as Emre Can has done as our best midfield last season was Wij Hendo Lallana.

I want to believe that Coutinho won't be sold, but until the window shuts, his departure may still happen. The fact that we are in for Lemar means that we might be looking to bring in a replacement before selling, so the fee isn't jacked up.

I want him to stay and I want the owners to be as good as their word, however until it shuts I'm not taking anything for granted.

Agree entirely - I still think he's gone.

Maybe we can convert him into a CB.

I still don't know why we are after Oxlade-Chamberlain?

Wish Ox would just feck off to Chelsea

I wish I knew because most of the peeps seem to think that we still want VVD & Ox this window, disregarding Keita because he's sealed now.

The Lemar link seems to be an alternative which I still cant wrap my head around. Part of me thinks he's an Ox alternative but it seems too ridiculously priced for an Ox alternative. Which leaves it as him being a Coutinho replacement

Klopp likes him and he likes Klopp.

There are some potential positives in signing the Ox.

What stands out to me is firstly his age and secondly he plays in a team that lime to pass the ball and move.

What concerns me is his decision making and his injury record. One could argue that not jumping at the chance to exit Arsenal, who are falling apart to join Chelsea, is just another bad decision from the Ox

Fred, was your Ox man crush fuelled by the fact that his name could be that of an upper class Tory?

Yes and these are the perfect times to use AOC and I'd like that to happen but this is the reason he wants to leave Arsenal. He doesn't want to used in that role. He wants to be a starter in central midfield, hence rejecting Chelsea.

To be guaranteed a starting place in a team you've got to look pretty far down the league.

Very few players are going to be signed as nailed on first teamers for us this season.

If we sign Lemar even Salah's place could be threatened at times.

True. If we sign AOC, it won't. That's the difference. He will be a back up for a number of positions, which I'd like but which he obviously doesn't.

TOOR

I agree with you, but what I'm saying is patience is key. He's 24 not 28 so he has a few years to stake a claim. It's down to him whether or not he's willing to work to get into the team.

Spanish window doesn't close until midnight on 1 September, so Coutinho saga will still drag on for another 24 hours!
