Waiting for someone to pop up and use the classic "that's not what I see with my eyes" line

Which is often used to debunk statistics they don't agree with
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m surprised you’ve stopped short of saying that personal opinions and debate should be outlawed, as soon as a stat is published.

Would you settle for me saying that I don't see the point in those statistics? That they have zero relevance to today's match?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not sure about zero relevance, but agreed they don’t mean a great deal.

They do though answer the constant stream of people who claim we struggle against certain managers.

The only managers we actually struggle against there are Pulis, Hodgson and Mourinho.

I don’t care what the stats say, I think today could be far more difficult than it would of been a month ago. Allardyce hates us, and without doubt he’ll have the Everton players revved up more than usual, and their form and confidence have definitely improved.

Of course, I’m hopeful that we’ll still be far too strong for them, as our own current form is still far better than anything they can muster.

Not at all..

But if a Stat is telling you that a player is the highest assisting fullback in the league then it's useless trying to say that he's not creative in attack, which was an argument re Moreno

Doubly bizarre given he assisted more than clyne that season who was earning rave reviews with his attacking contribution, yet was lower than Alberto on every attacking metric..

I like debate, I like opinions, what I don't like is people who disregard facts as unimportant to their opinion.

For example yesterday righteous corrected me, and I took it in to consideration and changed my view, it's not difficult for people not to be pig headed

(and to be honest term most of this post isn't aimed at you, just a general problem on this board )

It’s not exactly going out on on a limb to say it could be a harder game than a month ago.

Everton were horrendous under Unsworth.

I wasn’t going out on a limb though. I was saying that Allardyce’s stats against us might actually be irrelevant in the context of today’s game.

Most things go out the window on derby day anyway

posted on 10/12/17

I don’t think they are irrelevant.

The same as Everton’s horrific record at Anfield isn’t irrelevant.

It all adds in to the game.

Everton will have to turn around all this negativity to get a result.

It’s possible they will do that. It’s adds up to it not being likely though.

They really don’t.

Usually the best teams win.

Shame we aren’t playing Everton in their state about three weeks ago. We should win today but it can definitely make a difference as to the timing you play teams over the course of the season.

We saw it last year when Leicester beat us comfortably in Shakespeare’s first game when they actually tried for the first time in a game in a long while.

We then played Leicester in one of his last games when they were stuck in a rut, now they are flying again under Puel.

Likewise we smashed a hopeless West Ham under Bilic and then yesterday they play out of their skins to beat Chelsea.

Could be interesting today and I expect a much better Everton performance than in most league games this year.

There’s some right fackin balloon heads on our match threads.

I don’t filter people so everyone can comment on the threads but I’m seriously thinking of doing a few!

The Henderson bashing is pretty annoying.

What an infuriating result that was though, most one sided game you will ever see and the bitters have fluked a point.

Bad decision from the referee but once again we can only have ourselves to blame.

Disappointing result and a big chance missed, simply have to win both our games before we go to Arsenal now.

"Bad decision from the referee but once again we can only have ourselves to blame."

A bit of a contradiction there don't you think?

posted on 10/12/17

Not a great performance but you can’t play great every game.

We did enough to win but poor decisions by Mane, Lovren and the ref meant we didn’t win.

Disappointing but not the end of the world.

Many of our fans on here are absolute spanners though. I have filtered some and don’t care. They are morons.

Two more games against bottom half fodder this week and need to make sure we get 6pts to keep momentum.

Somewhat comforting that even had we got Van Dijk, Keita in last summer I highly we would have kept pace with this City side anyway.

They probably need 39 points from their remaining 22 remaining fixtures to win it, 1.5 pts a game and that’s assuming one of the other teams can put a great winning run together which none of them have suggested they are capable of doing yet.

It’s in the bag already for them imo.

We’ve just got to make sure we get top four, get the right players in the summer and hope they aren’t as good as next year.

We’ve been playing really well, Shame about today however it’s not the end of the world. We deserved to win and but for 2 moments of madness we would have done.

TVJ has to be the first. Can't see why he 'supports' us.

Yeah the title is over.

Well done City, just too good this year.

We are in the mix for 2nd IMO and the result today hasn’t changed that.

We have to hope all the rotation means we are fresh for when it really matters from February onwards.

It's dissapointing but our unbeaten runs continue.

Results like today, Burnley and Watford (all of which I think we had poor ref decisions against us) mean we HAVE to improve our h2h record against our rivals. Which is hard.

Hopefully this rotation really helps through December and Jan.
