Origi offers better depth across the front three than solanke..

Id send solanke up to rangers, where he should be able to score a hatful and get a bit of confidence

I couldn't put myself through that match again. I'm hitting the beach and hopefully missing the game.

With Origi it depends on the player too.

He went out on loan because he told Klopp he wanted to play and Klopp couldn’t promise him he would do.

Now the move, even though it didn’t go great, might have whetted Origi’s appetite for first team football and he will just want to leave permanently.

Then again, he might think ‘actually, instead of struggling for a lower tier side I’d rather be a sub in the CL final.’

Klopp would have kept him around if Origi wanted to be kept.

This is at best an assumption, or just a total fabrication.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it isn't. Origi was speaking about wanting first team football and perhaps the need to move, the season before his loan.

Solanke will prove to be a decent player at some point, with us or otherwise, but I'd rather have had Origi in the squad this season than him or Ings.

I think he's gone and we'll sign a less orthodox striker to ease the burden on Firmino, who can play in other positions also.

I’d rather Solanke than Origi myself.

But if we could get someone like Fekir i feel he could play a similar role to Firmino when we need to rest Firmino or in the midfield, or on the right and shift Salah into the striker spot.

Solanke played well in the last game because we weren't obsessed with knocking only long balls and crosses to him. Origi falls into the same trap because he's taller than our front 3 but not necessarily tall enough to dominate opposition CBs in the league.

Sometimes you just need a physical presence up front so our front 3 can play of him. He does all the dirty work but has to also be mobile and then the front 3 can do what they do best. Solanke played that role well last game and Origi can also play that role.

Yeah but one game he seems to go into it with super confidence and the next game he's like Bambi after his mum died.

When he's super confident he actually looks like a footballer. It's not often enough and for me he needs to move to get regular games to build that confidence.

Guys, Origi is good. Think we're forgetting how good he was looking before the Funes Mori injury, in the Europa League run. He was our most in form-striker, moreso than Sturridge at that point.

Also it's a bit ridiculous criticising him for being out of form or low on confidence when Solanke has been exactly the same this year, but with only one goal instead of in double figures which Origi was managing doing the same role.

That said, I do agree with this.

Origi shouldn't be what we have as a back up if we want to challenge on a couple of fronts next season. We need someone in the Firmino mold, which is where i can see Fekir playing if he does come. He can obviously play other positions too but I want us to have a like for like replacement for Firmino.

He's just not very good.

His game intelligence is woeful, defensively poor, suspect touch and not great shot selection.

It's a good job he's quick and strong basically.

Here is our 25 man squad;

Full squad
25 Squad players (*=Home grown)

Barbosa De Oliveira, Roberto Firmino
Bogdan, Adam
Can, Emre
Clyne, Nathaniel Edwin*
Van Duke, Virgil
Flanagan, Jonathan*
Henderson, Jordan Brian*
Ings, Daniel William John*
Jones, Lloyd Richard*
Karius, Loris Sven
Klavan, Ragnar
Lallana, Adam David*
Lovren, Dejan
Mane, Sadio
Markovic, Lazar
Matip, Job Joel Andre
Mignolet, Simon
Milner, James Philip*
Moreno Perez, Alberto
Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexander Mark David*
Robertson, Andrew
Salah, Mohamed
Sturridge, Daniel*
Ward, Daniel*
Wijnaldum, Georginio

I can see five of those going so plenty of work for Klopp and the club to do but also a great opportunity to strengthen.

I just want him to do well with us, I still feel he has potential and he was bought so young, it would be a young player developed at Liverpool.

posted on 18/5/18

Origi is 23, saying he won't improve is utterly ridiculous.

posted on 18/5/18

On Solanke..... he's played 600 minutes of Prem and CL football. Not a lot really is it. Klopp likes him though because he does the right things and Pearce said Klopp hoped to promote Brewster and not buy a striker. Don't be surprised if we don't bring anyone one in as Firmino cover.
