New found respect for Kash.
I'm hindu so our fast is more lenient than you guys. I said if Salah scores in the final, I will fast for the rest of Ramadan
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Respect to you too FCK.
Are you not into cricket?
Not as much as I used to be. In fact can't remember the last time I sat down and watched a cricket match.

Week goes very slow when you are fasting

Kash, my daughter wants to fast for a day to try and understand how her friend feels during Ramadan..
What's the rules ? She's 11, when is she allowed to eat/drink etc?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You should be proud of her grizz, most adults aren't mature enough to try and get perspective on something they don't understand let alone 11 year olds!
That attitude will serve her well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is the perspective, im hungry?

21:13 seems overkill
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's based on sunrise and sunset I believe.
Which sucks living as far north as the UK where our days at the moment are so long.

Oh nice, I'm Sikh - had no idea JA606 was multicultural, that's good to know
I still can't figure out which old poster you are
Is today the come clean what faith you follow day
It's all part of the build-up to Saturday
The sun really sets past 9 in the UK in summer?
That's awesome actually. Not so much for Kash now that he's fasting but in general that's awesome.
Yeah it does peak up to 10pm early July which is great but we don't get that much sun. Having some now but the rain will be back.

Trouble is it's light from like 9 to 4 in the winter and that's in the south!
Feel bad for my muslim mates during Ramadan, the summer fast is brutal. Also, we suddenly struggle to get enough people for 5-a-side
I still play 5 a side but it can be a mission to arrange.
It's not so bad actually, I make sure I have some ice cream for pre fast meal so that I don't crave one when it's warm.
Just shows what the human body is capable of and doesn't need to keep snacking.
Started Ramadan at 80kgs, I'll let you know any loss/gain!
I was out late on Saturday then played 2 hours on Sunday morning - was dying the rest of the day, had to make a jug of salt lassi just to keep me going haha

Wow 11 is too young especially in the UK and in this heat. My son is 10 but he only does weekends and even then I try and discourage him.
Basically you get him at 2:30am and then have something to eat if you can and then fast all day until 9:13pm at the moment.
No food or water in that time.
Fair play to your little one if she wants to fast
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She wants to do one day "for the experience" , so I think that'll be ok.
Cheers & Happy Ramadan (if that's a thing!!)

I don't know. I once went a morning without breakfast. I woke up in a foreign prison, not remembering the trail of destruction I'd left behind.
Obviously not a Muslim myself but have big respect for those that fast during Ramadan, I couldn't do it.
Could probably do a day about food but wouldn't be able to cope with the dehydration, particularly on a hot day, I get bad headaches from not drinking enough water as it is.
Not eating and drinking is real extreme sport
What happens if you are really ill during ramadam, do they still do it, or do they get a pass?
Fairly sure you get a pass, it's quite lenient and obviously would be dangerous if you were ill
You get a pass if you're ill, or doing sport or pregnant I believe.
Basically any requirement for excess calories and hydration to keep healthy means you can forego ramadan I believe.
