Coutinho or nothing

TAA will never be a midfielder for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we re-sign Coutinho that would be incredible. A proper playmaker is arguably the only thing we are missing from the first XI, even though it's probably not even that necessary.

I would like to see us bring in another good centre back though. At present I would be a bit scared if VVD gets injured.

Although Shaqiri is very creative for us and I hope he starts more games for us going forward.

Id like him back because it will give us proper depth and a long range threat again.. So long as he doesnt shoot TOO often as he was guilty of before.

Think they still owe us £70m or something. we could take him back and cancel the debt

Coutinho in a post Buvac less pressing Liverpool would be lethal.

Anyway no way are Barca handing him back on the cheap.

Forgot about Buvac. What the fack is going on there? He's still an employee of ours. Very curious indeed.

In a dream world I'd sign Coutinho, De Vrij and Werner but I don't expect us to sign anybody.

Coutinho on loan for the remainder of the season might be hugely beneficial for all parties... Barcelona don't seem to need him at the moment, Coutinho might find some form again, and potentially win a PL medal with us. Dreamland stuff though.

He did the whole way up, but hes 20, all his epxerience with the first team has been at right back and all his training is done there.

His best attributes are suited to full back or a winger (pace, stamina, crossing) and would be wasted trotting around in the midfield.

Carra + Neville have both said it, no-one chooses to be a fullback, you just end up there, it will be the same with trent, dont see him ousting any of our current midfield players and would be a huge loss at RB

Gerrard played about 3 games at right back. Always been a midfielder while TAA is a utility man who has found a home at right back. He doesn’t have the game to play wide right and doesn’t have the dicipline to play midfield.

He's an excellent passer, can manipulate it, great engine, good vision and is a clean striker of the ball. Playing rb will give him a huge amount of experience tactically and in one on one situations.

I think he'll end up in midfield myself.

Who do you all think he will oust? eventually all players will leave, but we have a fairly yound midfield, at what age will he jump across to CM? hes already 20 with no real playing experience there

Henderson? Not a chance, we are always so much better with him on the ball keeping the game ticking over, pressing, capable of some really incisive passes when the opportunity is presented.

Milner? Possibly due to age, but Wij is already favoured in midfield and we dont need both given our other players

Fabinho/Keita/Shaqiri are specialists in ways TAA wont ever be, so he would be an unsuitable replacement

Cant see where people think he will fit, given the strength of this team we wont want to see it dismantled, by the time a spot really frees up he could be 23 and learning a whole new position over again?

Can’t see it myself Robbing. He’s been class at RB. It’s a case of if it ain’t broke and all that. We’ve got more than enough options in midfield as it is.

posted on 28/12/18

there is also quite likely a much larger list of options in the market that can do the jobs klopp wants in the midfield than at right back

Coutinho on loan?

posted on 28/12/18

I agree with Robbing tbh, I think Trent has all the attributes to be a box to box midfielder but he may not end up there for a few years. Can see him taking Milner's space in the squad when he retires or leaves.

It's not really learning a whole new position if he's spent all but the last 2 years playing there. Besides, how old was Carra when he moved central rather than left or right back? It was only when Rafa came in I believe, so mid 20's maybe?

Not a big thing players changing positions, look at Steven Caulker!

Or Paul Warhurst, Dion Dublin etc, if we want to consider better players than Caulker
